FanDuel Sportsbook has been one of the biggest names in U.S. sports betting since launching its online sportsbook in New Jersey in 2018. FanDuel was also the first U.S. sportsbook to introduce Same Game Parlays in 2019, helping popularize a type of bet that has since become standard across the industry.
FanDuel has grown well beyond its daily fantasy roots and is now one of the most widely used betting apps in the country. bet365 Sportsbook is one of the biggest betting brands in the world, with more than 120 million customers worldwide. The company was founded in the UK in 2000 and has been a major name in international sports betting for years, but it’s still relatively new to many U.S. bettors.
That has started to change pretty quickly. Kentucky became just the sixth U.S. state with bet365 in September 2023, and the sportsbook has since expanded into markets like Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, Missouri, and Michigan. West Virginia became its 18th state in August 2026, continuing what has been one of the faster expansions among U.S. sportsbooks over the last few years.

DraftKings Sportsbook has been one of the biggest names in U.S. sports betting since the market opened up in 2018. DraftKings originally launched as a daily fantasy sports company in 2012 before becoming the first operator to launch an online and mobile sportsbook in New Jersey six years later. Today, it’s available in 27 states plus Washington, D.C.
DraftKings has changed quite a bit since then. The sportsbook and DFS products are now part of the same DraftKings Sports app, and the company has expanded into areas like prediction markets while continuing to build around its core sportsbook. It’s also one of the few major betting brands that has been publicly traded since 2020.

BetMGM Sportsbook was founded in 2018 as a joint venture between MGM Resorts International and Entain. That gives it a different setup than most online sportsbooks, combining Entain’s betting technology with the MGM brand and its network of casinos and resorts across the country.
BetMGM has grown into one of the largest U.S. sportsbooks since then, with mobile and retail betting now available across 31 markets. Fanatics Sportsbook is one of the newer names in U.S. sports betting, launching its first beta app in 2023. Rather than building everything from scratch, Fanatics quickly expanded by buying PointsBet’s U.S. business for $225 million and moving its customers and technology over to the Fanatics Sportsbook.
That deal helped Fanatics grow from a newcomer into one of the most widely available sportsbooks in the country in a pretty short amount of time. It’s now online in more than 20 states plus Washington, D.C., while still having a much different identity than FanDuel or DraftKings thanks to its connection with the larger Fanatics sports merchandise and collectibles business.

BetRivers Sportsbook is owned by Rush Street Interactive, a Chicago-based gaming company that was founded in 2012. BetRivers launched in Pennsylvania in 2019 and was also the first online sportsbook to go live in Indiana later that year. Since then, it has expanded into markets across the country, including Illinois, Michigan, New York, Ohio, and Maryland.
BetRivers may not be as big as FanDuel or DraftKings, but it has been around since the early days of legal U.S. sports betting and does a lot of the basics well. What we like most is the customer support. Live chat is available 24/7, and we can usually get connected with a real person within a couple of minutes. In our testing, DraftKings, BetMGM, and FanDuel delivered the fastest payouts overall. PayPal and other e-wallets were generally the quickest withdrawal methods, while ACH and debit card withdrawals took a bit longer on average. Mailed checks were always the slowest option, taking about a week (or longer) across all five sportsbooks.
