One of the most popular apps used by bettors has been theScore. Finding a really good app for scoreboard watching is a challenge. TheScore app has often been the go-to for those gamblers that want to follow along with their bets. Well, now theScore has also entered the sports betting space in the state of New Jersey with its own sportsbook app, theScore Bet, so bettors can have a one-stop shop for making bets and also checking scores.
Based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, theScore has been a television network, website, and, of course, a well-regarded app for following along with your favorite teams and games. Score isn’t the only network making a move into the sports betting world, as Fox Bet is another app that has come to market with the backing of a major network with a lot of sports coverage.
Like the other mobile sports betting apps in the Garden State, bettors can access the app from anywhere, but can only place bets when physically in the state of New Jersey. Geolocation technology prevents those outside of the state from getting down, but for those that aren’t in New Jersey, a pilgrimage to Atlantic City isn’t a bad idea and for those in adjacent states like New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia, it isn’t a far drive to get over the border and get in the bets that you want to make.
TheScore Bet has partnered with some key players, including Bet.Works for its software and technical development and Monmouth Park Racetrack for its licensing.
This betting app went live just in time for the 2019 NFL season and is available on both iOS and Android. There was not a website for placing bets at time of writing, but surely that is in the works for the future.
Because theScore Sports News & Scores app was so popular, a lot of the same technology and layout has been carried over to this betting app. Not only that, but while putting together the sportsbook app, the developers also enhanced the original app and created a Bet Mode feature.
As mentioned, you’ll have to have your location on and be in the state of New Jersey to utilize the Bet Mode app to its fullest capacity, but the two apps have been seamlessly cross-integrated to make it extremely easy to look at a score, switch to Bet Mode, and then place a live wager on the game.
The uniqueness of theScore Bet is what really stands out here. Just about all of the other apps in this space comes from gambling companies that were already involved in DFS or sports betting in other states. This app is so much different. In this case, different is good, as that Bet Mode feature is a characteristic that really stands out.
Also, because theScore is a scores and information app, you can download the original app in the Google Play Store and then switch to Bet Mode. At time of writing, there was still a ban on gambling apps in the Google Play Store, so there are workarounds to downloading most of the NJ, PA, and WV sports betting apps for Android. It turns out that theScore app is really, really easy as a result.
Furthermore, with that background as a scores app, if you already have a profile, or create one, your favorite teams and favorite leagues will take precedence on the odds board when you switch to Bet Mode.
Because the interface of the app was already set up to be a scoreboard, the live betting options are seemingly endless for this product as it continues to grow and thrive. The technology was created to support real-time updates of scores, plays, and box scores, so you will have up-to-the-second information for getting those in-play wagers in. That is a huge deal because so many people are getting involved in that side of the business.
Along with live betting, theScore Bet offers all of the usual betting options that you would expect. Spreads, totals, money lines, parlays, teasers, round robins, props, and futures are all listed in the app. As the app continues moving forward, more props and futures are sure to be offered.
All of the usual suspects are listed in terms of sports as well. Baseball, basketball, football, hockey, golf, soccer, tennis, MMA, auto racing, and the popular European sports are part of the equation. TheScore Bet isn’t the only app with a little bit of European influence to it, as some of the operators have partnered with places like Paddy Power. While Canada is part of North America, there are some sports that are bigger there than in the US, so there are likely to be some different offerings or more offerings on certain sports.
Financial transactions are easy and very user-friendly within the app. TheScore is actually on the Toronto Stock Exchange, so there should be zero worries or concerns about getting your money in or out with a company that has been around for a long time.
The traditional deposit and withdrawal methods are available with theScore Bet. Visa or Mastercard, e-check or ACH payment, cash at the cage at the Monmouth Park Racetrack, and then money transferring services like Neteller, PayNearMe, and Skrill. Wire transfers are also an option.
When it comes to withdrawals, the options are a little more limited to ACH or e-check, a check by mail, or those in proximity to Monmouth Park can go to the cage.
Like most sportsbooks in the space, second-chance bets are the preferred initial bonus option. There is also an extra special bonus for using the original Score app, which includes betting offers and awards. Bonus bets, weekly contests, and other promos have been set up as well.
It’s still early in the game because of the September 2019 launch, but this operator and this app could very well be game-changers. With so much technology already in place to update scores in real-time, it may not be long until this app is at the forefront of live betting.
It has the same sleek and easy-on-the-eyes design as the dark color scheme of the scores and news Score app and the integration between the two apps is also something creative and unique in the space. The convenience of getting your news, your scores, and your betting odds all in one spot is going to resonate with bettors of all bankroll sizes and experience levels.
