Welcome to the ultimate guide for Oklahoma sports betting! As sports betting continues to rapidly grow in popularity all over the United States, there are plenty of Sooner State residents ready to get in on the action. In this article, we'll provide everything you need to know about Oklahoma sports betting, including the legal landscape, top sportsbooks, latest news, and much more!
In May 2018, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the Professional & Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) of 1992 and gave states the power to decide for themselves whether or not sports betting would be legal within their borders. Since then, the majority of U.S. states have passed new legislation or approved amendments to their constitution in order to authorize sports wagering in some capacity.
Unfortunately, Oklahoma is not one of those states. Despite the considerable efforts of state legislators and countless proposals, sports betting is not yet available in the Sooner State. However, Oklahoma's gambling laws do allow for horse racing betting as well as charitable games, bingo, and raffle prizes. In addition, there are tribal casinos and racinos currently operating in Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Norman, and many other cities across the state.
It is currently unknown when sports betting will launch in the state of Oklahoma. It had appeared as if 2020 was the year, after Governor Kevin Stitt authorized sports betting on tribal land by renegotiating gaming compacts with the Comanche Nation and Otoe-Missouria Tribe.
However, the courts ruled against Stitt and his amended compacts, citing that the governor is only allowed to authorize tribes to operate games that are listed in the state’s Tribal Gaming Act, which does not include sports betting or online casino gambling in Oklahoma.
State Representative Ken Luttrell introduced HB 1027 in February 2023, sparking widespread optimism among sports betting enthusiasts in the state of Oklahoma. The bill proposed to legalize online and retail sports wagering and managed to pass through the House Appropriations and Budget Committee as well as the state's House of Representatives.
Unfortunately, HB 1027 failed to pass through the Senate committee, as legislators wanted to see more dialogue between the state's federally recognized Native American tribes and Governor Kevin Stitt. As a result, Oklahoma residents will have to wait until at least 2024 before new sports betting legislation can be introduced.
Should an opportunity ever present itself, it is expected that many of the top U.S. sportsbooks will be interested in launching their platforms in the state of Oklahoma. A few of the most likely candidates to enter the Oklahoma sports betting market in the upcoming years are discussed below.

Daily fantasy sports (DFS) is an exciting option for sports fans in the state of Oklahoma. Although it is not explicitly legal in Oklahoma or regulated under state law, the vast majority of DFS operators allow anyone who is 18 years or older and located within state lines to participate. DraftKings, FanDuel, Underdog Fantasy, and many of the other top DFS sites are available in the Sooner State, and they provide a wide range of contests, huge prize pools, and a fantastic online gaming experience.
In addition, betting on horse races is legal in Oklahoma. You can wager in person at any of the state's three race tracks (Fair Meadows Tulsa, Remington Park, and Will Rogers Downs) or seven off-track betting facilities as well as online using AmWager, TwinSpires, or any of the other horse racing betting sites currently available in the state.
Similar to daily fantasy sports (DFS) platforms, offshore sportsbooks exist in a legal gray area, as they are not specifically allowed or prohibited by Oklahoma state laws. Offshore sportsbooks operate outside the jurisdiction of the United States and give Oklahoma sports bettors an opportunity to place bets online from the comfort of their homes or from anywhere in the state.
However, it is important to understand that these platforms carry certain risks, including but not limited to unreliable payment processing, withdrawal issues, lack of regulatory oversight and consumer protection measures, and concerns about privacy and data security.
Lastly, Oklahoma sports bettors will always have the option to visit neighboring states that have already launched online or retail sportsbooks within their borders. Depending on which region of Oklahoma you live in, you may choose to take a quick trip to Arkansas, Colorado, or Kansas to place wagers on all your favorite players and teams.

Retail sports betting is also available at casinos in Black Hawk, Central City, and several other cities across the state.
