- Tennessee should have some semblance of a passing game now, with Ryan Tannehill back and DeAndre Hopkins joining him.
- Are we sure that Derek Carr is good enough to elevate this Saints team, especially with Alvin Kamara serving an early-season suspension?
Week 1 of the NFL season will feature an interesting inter-conference matchup, as the New Orleans Saints host the Tennessee Titans at Caesars Superdome. Both teams made some moves to improve their respective offenses, which they hope will yield immediate dividends in this contest. Continue reading for our Titans vs Saints prediction, one of our many NFL betting predictions for opening weekend.
Tennessee Titans
The Tennessee Titans had a lackluster 2022 season, as Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry both dealt with injuries that ground their offense to a screeching halt. This season, both Tannehill and Henry are back, with free agent acquisition DeAndre Hopkins joining them. And while expectations are low going into the year, the Titans have a chance to prove the doubters wrong in this Titans vs Saints clash.
Tennessee’s defense was the best in the league against the run last year, but the worst in the league against the pass. Against a Saints team that will be looking to put the ball in the air early and often with their new quarterback, Tennessee simply has to be better at defending the pass if they want to come out of New Orleans with a win.
New Orleans Saints
Poor quarterback play tore the season of the New Orleans Saints apart in 2022, as Jameis Winston got hurt, and we got stuck watching quarterbacks like Andy Dalton and Ian Book. This year, the Saints will have Derek Carr under center, as they brought him in after his time with the Las Vegas Raiders came to an end. In this game, the Saints will look to move to 1-0 in the Derek Carr era by defeating the Titans at home.
While the Saints do not have Alvin Kamara for this game, they do have last year’s league leader in rushing touchdowns in Jamaal Williams. Williams was great at converting in short-yardage goal line situations for the Detroit Lions last season. But he will need to do much more than that in this game, as he does not have another upper echelon back to pair with like he did with D’Andre Swift for much of his 2022 campaign in Detroit.
