We are back for our first Sunday Night Football game of the season. The Dallas Cowboys host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in what should be a close and exciting game. The Buccaneers are set as a 2.5 point favorite.
We will have you covered for player props on all of the prime time games this season.
You might ask, “what does the betting line have to do with player props?” The simple answer is that game script matters. Teams will have different approaches if playing from ahead or playing from behind. Player snaps and usage are often dictated by game flow. This particular game is likely not a blowout on either side, so we cannot project a truly fully run heavy game script for a leading team or a fully pass happy game script for a losing team. We will go more in depth on game scripts as the year progresses and betting plays are created from those projections. For now, let’s dive into the player prop bet for Sunday night.
Ezekiel Elliott Player Prop Bet
Ezekiell Elliott will enter the 2022 season healthier than perhaps any time in the entire 2021 season. He played with a significant injury for essentially the entirety of last season. That injury forced a huge decrease in both volume and production for Zeke. Even with that decrease, Elliott notched a 1000 yard rushing season. I believe we see a return to his normal role this season, but that return is not remotely needed if his rushing props are going to be set in the forties.
Elliott averages 84 rushing yards per game in his career. His sample size and role with the team will continue to be closer to the full sample than the diminished role that came with the injury issue last season. We should address Tony Pollard as well. He is a solid player in his own right. With the injury issues the Cowboys have at wide receiver, I suspect we see Pollard on the field with Elliott for a good deal of snaps. The majority of the carries will go to Elliott. It would be a true surprise if he fell short of the 48.5 yard rushing prop. Take the over on Sunday night.
