Game five of the World Series is set for Thursday night when the Houston Astros visit the Philadelphia Phillies. The Phillies took game one in what can only be described as an instant classic, while Houston evened the series up with a dominant showing in game two. Philadelphia went home for game three and the bats exploded as they took the series lead. Game four saw history as the Astros combined to throw a no-hitter to even up the series. Below is my MLB pick for game five.

Houston Astros vs Philadelphia Phillies Betting Pick
Why Bet The Philadelphia Phillies
✅ In eight career World Series starts, Justin Verlander is 0-6 with a 6.07 ERA and the Phillies roughed him up, after going down 5-0, in their game one win.
✅ The Phillies bullpen, sans game four, has been lights out this World Series and they will have to dominate in game five.
✅. Philadelphia is too good at home to lose two in a row in from of an electric home crowd will be.
Houston Astros
Houston used a phenomenal pitching performance, and a big fifth inning, to get the 5-0 win and even the World Series up at two wins a piece. The Astros scored all five of their runs in the top of the fifth inning with Alex Bregman, surprise surprise, getting the big hit. However, the story of the game was the pitching as Cristian Javier threw six hitless innings and three bullpen pitchers came in to complete the combined no-hitter. Just a great performance by this Astros pitching staff.
Justin Verlander takes the mound in game five as he looks to rebound from a poor game one. Verlander is 1-0 with a 7.20 ERA and 1.53 WHIP this postseason.
Yuli Gurriel has been hot this postseason as he leads the Astros with a .348 batting average and 16 hits. Alex Bregman leads the way with three home runs and 11 RBIs, while Chas McCormick has a team high .395 on base percentage.
Philadelphia Phillies
The Phillies will not be concerned with getting no-hit in game four and I expect them to come out swinging early Thursday night.
Noah Syndergaard gets the start in game three and his is 0-0 with a 1.69 ERA and 0.75 WHIP this postseason. Syndergaard has solid career postseason numbers, but this will be the biggest occasion of his career.
Bryce Harper is having a legendary postseason as he leads the Phillies with a .368 batting average, six home runs, and 13 RBIs. Harper’s numbers are ridiculous as he also leads Philadelphia with a .410 on base percentage and 21 hits. Just an unreal run by the 2021 MVP.
