They got six innings of one-run ball from Yusei Kikuchi in that game, and will hope for a similar performance from Alek Manoah on Saturday. Unfortunately for the Blue Jays, Manoah has really struggled to start this year.
The Blue Jays ace has an ERA barely under 7.00 for the season, and has allowed five or more runs in half of his starts so far. Coming off of a start against Tampa Bay where he allowed seven runs in 4.2 innings of work, Manoah simply has to be better for the Blue Jays to compete for the AL East this season.
New York Yankees
The New York Yankees dropped their first matchup with the Toronto Blue Jays on the season on Friday night. Their offense could not get into gear in that contest, scoring just one run against Toronto at home. But the Yankees may not need many more runs than that on Saturday, as they send Gerrit Cole to the mound.
Cole has been simply incredibly to start this season, posting an ERA of under 1.00 and emerging as the clear Cy Young award favorite in the American League early on. Cole has averaged eight strikeouts per game in his first four starts, and another similar outing from the Yankees ace would likely lead to another win for his team.
