This game will be played at Rogers Centre at 4:07 PM ET on Saturday, October 8, 2022.
Why Bet The Mariners:
✅ The Blue Jays looked nothing like the team that hit 200 home runs during the regular season in Game 1. They had one extra-base hit in that contest, and that was a double that came with two outs in the ninth inning. Toronto went 0-3 with runners in scoring position in Game 1, as they barely got any chances to drive runners in, and did not take advantage when they got those chances. Expect those woes to continue here.

✅ The reason those woes will continue is the fact that Robbie Ray is on the mound for the Mariners here. Ray, of course, won a Cy Young with the Blue Jays before departing for Seattle. He gave up just one run in six innings in his only outing against Toronto earlier this season, and will be the one to end their season here.
✅ Toronto failed to draw a walk against the Mariners in Friday’s series opener. While some of that is a credit to the pitching of Seattle, some of that was Toronto lacking patience at the plate. They allowed Luis Castillo to get into the eighth inning on just 108 pitches, and the lack of Toronto patience could be their undoing on Saturday.
Seattle Mariners
The Seattle Mariners took Game 1 against the Toronto Blue Jays in the Wild Card round on Friday. Seattle did so by setting the tone early in that game, scoring three runs in the first inning off of Blue Jays ace Alek Manoah. If they can get off to another hot start here, the Mariners could sweep their way into the ALDS on the road.
Robbie Ray will take the ball in Game 2 for the Mariners, which could be poetic if Seattle does pick up the victory. The former Blue Jay will aim for his second quality start against the Blue Jays this season, only with much higher stakes this time around.
Toronto Blue Jays
This season could be about to end for the Toronto Blue Jays after they dropped the first game of their Wild Card series to the Seattle Mariners. The bats for the Blue Jays were completely frigid in Game 1, as they were shut out on seven hits by Luis Castillo. Here, the Blue Jays will need to put some runs on the board if they are going to avoid being sent home until April.
Kevin Gausman is going to start this game for the Blue Jays, and will need to be at or near his best to beat Ray. Gausman is 12-10 on the season with a 3.35 ERA, the highest of any starter in this series thus far. Gausman has gone nearly a month without winning a decision, and while he does not need to get the win in this game, his team needs him to put them in a position to get one at the very least.
