The San Francisco Giants (32-42) will look to avenge last nights 11-5 loss with a win today against the Arizona Diamondbacks (38-39). Tyler Beede (1-2 6.67 ERA) hits the mound for the Giants and will match up against Zack Godley (3-4 6.52 ERA) of the Diamondbacks.

Beede will be making his sixth start of the season and is coming off of his first win, six innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers only allowing one earned run. It was by far the best game of the season for Beede. Prior to his last start, Beede pitched 22 ⅓ innings and allowed 20 earned runs. While he does have 33 strikeouts in 28 ⅓ innings this season, Beede has had command trouble with his 22 walks, which contributes to his insanely high WHIP of 1.91.

Godley’s season hasn’t been much better. He allowed 11 home runs in 59 ⅓ innings and owns a WHIP of 1.52. He’s spent the past month in the bullpen and has done pretty well, going 18 ⅓ innings allowing seven earned runs (six of them were in his last appearance over 4 ⅔ innings against the Washington Nationals). Godley has yet to pitch more than six innings in an appearance and only has one “quality start” on the season.

Beede managed to hold the Dodgers offense to just one run, despite his five walks. Two of his five starts have been quality outings, and he has managed to limit the damage at times this year. He is an improving pitcher who has good stuff, he just needs to lock down his command a little better. Godley is coming off of a terrible outing and is making his first start since May 18th, which was against the Giants (3 1/3 innings allowing four earned runs). Ketel Marte looks to be taking the night off according to Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo, and that is a big hit to the offense tonight. I like Beede to have another decent outing today, limiting his walks. Godley will continue to struggle on the season. The total is high at 10, but I think we see a big game from the Giants offense and enough runs from Arizona to push this game OVER as well.
