Marlins vs Mets Betting Pick
This game will be played at Citi Field at 7:10 PM ET on Friday, July 8, 2022.
Why Bet The Mets:
✅ Pablo Lopez will get the starting call for Miami, and the 26-year-old right-hander holds a 5-4 record with a firm 2.97 ERA and 1.07 WHIP in 16 starts (94 innings) this season. However, Lopez has slowed down of late, posting a 4.89 ERA and 4.60 FIP over his previous six outings and 35 frames of work. Pablo has emerged victorious only once since May 7.
✅ The current Mets have 33 hits, six doubles, three home runs, 12 RBIs, and .907 OPS in 102 at-bats against Pablo Lopez. JD Davis is 5-for-10, Jeff McNeill is 4-for-10 with a double and a home run, while Luis Guillorme is 3-for-6 versus the Marlins’ righty.

✅ Pablo Lopez struggled mightily in his previous date with the Mets on June 17. The Marlins suffered a 10-4 defeat and Lopez was charged for a loss, allowing seven runs (six earned) on eight hits across 5.1 innings of work. Pablo is 2-3 with a pedestrian 4.99 ERA in seven career starts against the Mets.
Miami Marlins
The Marlins put an end to their six-game losing streak last Wednesday. They suffered a 5-2 defeat to the Los Angeles Angels and split a two-game interleague series in front of the home fans. The Marlins fell to 39-41 on the season, trailing the bottom NL wild card by three games.
Miami is hitting just .233/.306/.398 in the last seven days and 206 at-bats. The Marlins’ bullpen has thrown 19.2 innings in that span, posting a 3.20 ERA, 4.13 FIP, and 6.7 K/9.
New York Mets
The Mets beat the Reds 8-3 in ten innings this past Wednesday to clinch a three-game set in Cincinnati and improve their record to 51-31 for the season. New York was topping the NL East on Thursday, two and a half games ahead of the reigning champions, the Atlanta Braves.
Over the last seven days, the Mets were slashing .267/.330/.433 across 210 at-bats. Chris Bassitt will get the nod Thursday and return to the mound following a short stint on the IL caused by illness. The 33-year-old righty is 6-5 with a 4.01 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in 15 starts (89.2 innings pitched) in 2022.
