A National League West battle continues Wednesday, August 26, 2020, when the Los Angeles Dodgers (22-9) visits the San Francisco Giants (15-16) in game two of their three-game series. The Dodgers have a four-game lead in the NL West, over the San Diego Padres, and San Francisco finds themselves seven games back of LA. This game will air live on ESPN at 9:45 p.m. EST.
These two teams played a while game one on Monday that ended with a San Francisco Giants 10-8 win in 11 innings. Both teams scored three runs in the first inning and Los Angeles put another three spot on the board in the top of the third. San Francisco fought back with one run in the fifth, seventh, and ninth innings. Each team scored a run in the 10th and Los Angeles took an 8-7 lead into the bottom of the 11th. San Francisco scored the tying run on an Evan Longoria RBI single and then walked it off with a Donovan Solano two-run home run.
Below is my pick for the Major League Baseball showdown between the Los Angeles Dodgers at San Francisco Giants. All odds are from SugarHouse Sportsbook.
Odds: Los Angeles Dodgers (-250) at San Francisco Giants (+210)
Pitching Matchup: Clayton Kershaw (3-1, 2.25 ERA, 0.79 WHIP) vs Kevin Gausman (1-1, 4.65 ERA, 1.29 WHIP)
Clayton Kershaw is back to his old ways as the veteran has been solid, minus one blip, all season long. In three combined starts, Kershaw has given up a combined two earned runs and eight hits in 19.2 innings pitched. The only blip for Kershaw this season was a 4.1 inning outing that saw him give up seven hits and four earned runs to the San Francisco Giants.
Kevin Gausman has been giving up runs this season but has still been giving San Francisco a chance to win. Gausman has given up four earned runs of less in all five of his starts but has given up a combined seven earned runs in his last two starts. The Dodgers may be able to put up runs Wednesday night.
Right fielder Mookie Betts has been a great addition to the Dodgers lineup as the former Boston Red Sox leads the team with 11 home runs, 24 RBI’s and 34 hits. Shortstop Corey Seager leads the team with a .300 average and third baseman Justin Turner is getting on base at a .386 clip.
Shortstop Donovan Solano leads the Giants with a .351 batting average and 34 hits. Right fielder Mike Yastrzemski has a team high 23 RBI’s and .410 on base percentage, while second baseman Wilmer Flores is powering the way with seven home runs.
Free MLB Pick: Not great value but I am backing Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
