The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) has given baseball fans some much needed action and that will continue Wednesday June 3, 2020 when the Kiwoom Heroes (13-12) visit the Hanwha Eagles (7-18). This game will air live on ESPN at 5:30 a.m. ESPN. Hanwha is the worst team in the KBO, while Kiwoom is part of tight pack between spots 4-8.
Kiwoom got their week off with a bang and came away with a 15-3 thrashing of the Hanwha Eagles. The score was 6-3 at the end of three innings, but Kiwoom ended up scoring in five of their last six innings to walk away with the big win. Han Hyun-hee earned his second win of the season and Park Byung-ho blasted his sixth home run of the year.
Below is my pick for the Kiwoom Heroes vs Hanwha Eagles. All odds are from Draftkings Sportsbook.
Kiwoom Heroes (-143) vs Hanwha Eagles (+114): O/U 9.5 (-105/-121)
Pitching Match-Up: Jo Young-gun (0-0, 0.00 ERA) vs Warwick Saupold (2-2, 2.65 ERA)
Jo Young-gun is set to make his first start of the 2020 season, and second appearance overall, on Wednesday. The righty made his season debut last weekend and did not allow a run or hit in one inning of work. Young-gun’s only other KBO start was last season when he pitched 1/3 of an inning and have up three earned runs.
Warwick Saupold is set to make his sixth start of the 2020 season and will look to continue his strong start to the season. Saupold has not allowed more than three earned runs all season but has had back-to-back games of three earned runs. The righty faced Kiwoom on 5/10 and pitched to a no-decision after a six inning two earned run performance.
This series is a battle of the two worst teams, over the last 10 games, as Kiwoom has posted a 4-6 record and Hanwha is just 1-9. Kiwoom has a +12-run differential, a +6-hit differential and a -1-home run differential, so the stats are not backing up the poor record. Hanwha, on the other hand, have a -45-run differential, a -49-hit differential, and a -7-home run differential.
On the road, Kiwoom is 5-8 with a +9-run differential, a +9-hit differential, and a +3-home run differential. Hanwha, at home, is just 3-7 with a -30-run differential, a -26-hit differential, and a -11-home run differential.
Prediction: I am backing the Hanwha Eagles in this one.
KBO Picks Record: 14-7
