The Chicago Cubs and the Seattle Mariners begin a two-game set today. Cole Hamels (3-0 3.16 ERA) will be making the start for the Cubs and will be going up against Felix Hernandez (1-2 3.91 ERA).

Hamels had a bit of a rough outing in his last start, which was against the LA Dodgers. Hamels was bounced after 5 ⅓ and allowed three earned runs while only allowing three hits, but walked six batters. Prior to that start, Hamels made two starts that lasted a total of 15 innings while only allowing one earned run and zero walks with 14 strikeouts.

King Felix is coming off of his best start of the season, going seven innings and only allowing one earned run, but still took the loss. Hernandez has done well to limit his walks this season (3), but he has allowed 28 hits and four home runs in 25 ⅓ innings.

Both teams had a much needed day off yesterday. The Cubs went 15 innings against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday and the Mariners are coming off of two blowout losses to the Texas Rangers (14-1 and 15-1). Excluding a 14-2 victory against Texas, the Mariners bats have cooled off recently, as they have only scored seven runs in their previous four games. The Cubs took two-out-of-three off of both the Dodgers and Diamondbacks in their last two series, scoring 33 runs in those six games.

The Chicago bats are starting to click and the Seattle bats are crashing back to earth after a historic start to the season. Hamels and Hernandez have both shown vintage stuff this season, but with Hernandez coming off of one of his best games in years and still getting the loss, I think King Felix struggles today by trying to do too much. Hamels continues his nice start to the season and the Cubs make it a tough day for Hernandez. The Cubs pick up another win today in a game that sees some late-inning runs to hit the Over.
