Total O/U: 10.5

After splitting two one-run games, the Baltimore Orioles (19-41) and Texas Rangers (31-28) face off in the deciding game of the series. Pitching for the Orioles will be David Hess (1-7 7.36 ERA) and for the Rangers, it will be Ariel Jurado (2-2 2.43 ERA).

Hess started the season with nine scoreless innings and only allowed one hit. Since then, his season has a trainwreck. Hess hasn’t had a scoreless outing since his first start of the season. Since then, he has allowed at least three earned runs in all 10 of his starts. In his last 46 ⅔ innings he has allowed 19 home runs. Only one of those last 10 starts he didn’t allow at least one home run.

Jurado got called up back in April and started his season out of the bullpen. He didn’t allow a run through his first 10 innings of the season. Jurado made his way into the rotation and will be making his fourth start tonight. His first three starts this season have been nearly identical. He has allowed two earned runs in each game, giving up five hits in two of them, and six in the other.

Hess has the highest ERA in baseball of any pitcher with at least 50 innings pitched. The Orioles have allowed the most home runs in baseball and Hess has been a big contributor to that. The Rangers have the second-best offense in baseball and should be able to tee off on Hess tonight. If Jurado only allows two runs again, the Rangers will have no problem getting the win in this one. This game will most likely see its fair share of runs, but I don’t think we will see enough to get the OVER. I expect the Rangers to win this one with ease, but the UNDER will just barely hit as well.
