✅ Spencer Strider will get the ball for the Braves, and the 23-year-old righty is 4-3 with a firm 3.03 ERA and 1.05 WHIP in ten starts and 11 relief appearances in 2022. Strider has a shiny 2.36 ERA and 1.48 FIP in his previous five starts. He’s punched out 42 over his last 26.2 innings of work.
Atlanta Braves
The Braves started the second half of the 2022 season with a three-game home set against the Los Angeles Angels. After a couple of easy wins over the Halos, 8-1 and 7-2, the reigning champs suffered a heavy 9-1 defeat in Sunday’s closer and fell to 58-39 on the season. They were second in the NL East, just a game and a half behind the New York Mets.
Spencer Strider finished the first half with a loss at the Washington Nationals. He yielded five runs on four hits and a pair of walks through four innings of work. It was Strider’s first defeat since May. The Braves’ bullpen owns a nice 2.58 ERA and .265 BABIP in 69.2 innings pitched in July.
Philadelphia Phillies
The Phillies just got swept in a three-game home set against the Chicago Cubs. They surrendered 25 runs in total while scoring only seven in a return. Philadelphia dropped to 49-46 on the season, trailing the bottom wild card in the National League by one game.
Aaron Nola (6-7; 3.13 ERA) will get the nod Tuesday and search for his third straight victory over the Braves in 2022. In his previous two dates with Atlanta, Nola has allowed five earned runs on 12 hits across 15.1 frames of work. The 29-year-old righty has a 3.60 ERA over his previous four appearances, while the Phillies’ bullpen has posted a 3.14 ERA and .283 BABIP through 63 innings of work in July.
