Boise State hosted the #9 BYU Cougars and suffered an embarrassing 51-17 defeat. It was a tight first quarter, that saw BYU lead 7-3 at the end of it, but the Cougars exploded in the third quarter and put this game on ice. BYU won the second half 35-14 and kept themselves in the College Football Playoff picture with the big win. Third string QB Cade Fennegan went 15/26 for 182 yards, two touchdowns, and one intereception on the night. Wide receiver Khalil Shakir exploded for 10 receptions for 139 yards and two touchdowns against the Cougars. The Boise State defense gave up 573 yards and did not force a single turnover.
