Mavericks vs Nets Betting Pick
This game will be played at Barclays Center at 7:30 PM ET on Thursday, October 27, 2022.
Why Bet The Mavericks:
✅ The Nets are on the second leg of a back to back here, having played in Milwaukee against the Bucks last night. While they are at home for this game, the Nets are at a rest disadvantage against a Mavs team that has not played since Tuesday night in New Orleans. Expect the fresher Mavs to get the better of the struggling Nets.
✅ Brooklyn is just not getting enough help around Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving right now. Those two combined for 60 of Brooklyn’s 99 points against the Bucks last night. Meanwhile, only Royce O’Neale joined them in double figures for the Nets in that game. The lack of depth for the Nets has been astounding, and that will cost them against a deep Mavericks team.

✅ Ben Simmons is simply not helping the Nets at this point in time. His assist numbers are strong, but he is contributing nothing in the scoring department and his defense has not been up to the standard it needs to be. With him in the lineup, the Mavs should have an advantage on the defensive end of the floor, as they are one of the better defensive teams in the league even against a team with five capable offensive players.
Dallas Mavericks
The Dallas Mavericks are coming off of a bad loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday night. New Orleans was without Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram, but the defense of the Mavericks was simply not up to its usual level. After giving up 40 points in the first quarter, the Mavs were unable to claw their way back down the stretch in what ended up being a tight game.
In this game, the Mavs will have to stop two stars in Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant, but the lack of depth for the Nets should help the Mavs defensively here. Unlike the Pelicans, who have a ton of shooters, the Nets supporting cast is lacking in that department. Dallas should be able to pick up a win here, though nothing is ever a certainty in the NBA.
Brooklyn Nets
The Brooklyn Nets failed to hit the 100 point mark in their last outing against the Dallas Mavericks. They were held to 99 points, as the supporting cast around Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving was nowhere near good enough. Here, the Nets will hope to have more than three double figure scorers as they look to avoid a 1-4 start to the year.
For Brooklyn to win this game, stopping Luka Doncic will be a must. The question is whether they have the bodies to do just that. Ben Simmons was cooked by Giannis Antetokounmpo on Wednesday night, despite his reputation as a lockdown defender. If Simmons is not better on the defensive end of the floor in this contest, a 1-4 start could be exactly what the Nets are dealing with.
