Brooklyn Nets Betting Preview
The Brooklyn Nets were one of the biggest disappointments in the NBA last season, falling in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. What was supposed to be a super team featuring Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden turned into a team where Durant was playing full-time, Irving played in a fraction of the team’s games, and Harden was unhappy and traded for a player in Ben Simmons who never touched the court in a game.
This season, the Nets should at least theoretically have the trio of Durant, Irving, and Simmons on the floor together. But that is clearly not a guarantee, especially after a turbulent offseason where the team’s stars went at it with head coach Steve Nash and GM Sean Marks. But the Nets come into this season with high expectations regardless of any drama following them around, as their level of talent is undeniable.

Brooklyn Nets Picks, Predictions & Betting News
Key Additions: Markieff Morris, T.J. Warren, Royce O’Neale
Key Departures: LaMarcus Aldridge, Blake Griffin, Andre Drummond, Bruce Brown, Goran Dragic
This offseason, the Nets went from having way too many washed up bigs to having virtually no bigs at all. Andre Drummond’s departure means that Nic Claxton is going to be the starting center for this team, with very few choices behind him. Of course, the biggest arrivals for this team will be the returns to full-time basketball for Kyrie Irving and Joe Harris. But adding a Morris twin and Royce O’Neal are nice moves, and hoping that T.J. Warren can reclaim his 2020 bubble form is worth a shot as well.
Positives & Negatives
For the Nets, the number one positive is that they are always going to be able to score. Having Durant and Irving on the floor together is simply too much for most opponents to deal with, and should lead to the Nets putting up a ton of points on a regular basis. If Joe Harris can come back and shoot the ball at a high level again, they become a title contender once again.
On the negative side, defense is going to be an issue for this squad, particularly on the interior. Claxton is a nice rim protector, but this team is super thin inside. Ben Simmons should theoretically help them on defense, but assuming that he is going to be on the floor is not something we are prepared to do. We will see if the Nets can resolve their defensive issues through Simmons or other means.
2022 Brooklyn Nets Win Total Prediction: Under 50.5 Wins
We will take the contrarian under on the Nets season win total for this year. They have a lot of great pieces and could easily win the title. But chemistry issues and some questions about defense on the interior could cost them a few regular season games. On top of that, this team is likely to coast through the regular season and prioritize health for the postseason above everything. They’ll have a fine year, but the under is our play for the Nets.
