The preseason comes to an end this weekend and one exciting game takes place on Friday, August 27, 2021, when the Minnesota Falcons visit the Kansas City Chiefs. Minnesota has now won a game this preseason and Kansas City is unbeaten in their two. This game will air live on NFL Network at 8:00 p.m. EST.
Minnesota did not have many position battles for starters this preseason, but the Vikings may be disappointed with how their depth battles have gone. Both backup quarterbacks, Jake Browning and Kellen Mond, have had major struggles during camp and have not been able to push Kirk Cousins. Wide receiver 3 and 4 is still undecided in Minnesota as is the defensive end spot opposite of Danielle Hunter.
Cornerback is the biggest position battle for Kansas City this training camp and Mike Hughes appears to be the leader in the pack. However, Deandre Baker, Rashad Fenton, and Chris Lemmons have all be standouts as well. Another big battle is that second receiver spot with Mecole Hardman the favorite, but Byron pringle, Demarcus Robinson, Antonio Callaway, and Cornell Powell all vying for the spot.
Below is my best bet for preseason action between the Minnesota Vikings and Kansas City Chiefs. All lines are from FanDuel Sportsbook.
Minnesota Vikings at Kansas City Chiefs (-4): O/U 38.5 (-110/-110)
Minnesota has not been playing their starters this preseason and they have struggled. The Vikings lost their opener 33-6 against the Denver Broncos, who have a QB battle going on, and then lost 12-10 against the Indianapolis Colts. I would expect only the bottom of the roster guys to play in this one for Minnesota as the Vikings have their eyes on Week One against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Kansas City is one of the few teams that does play their starters in the preseason, and they have gotten two wins thanks to that. The Chiefs opened with a 19-16 road win against the San Francisco 49ers and followed that up with a 17-10 win at the Arizona Cardinals. Head coach Andy Reid has been non-committal on how much starters will play in the final preseason game. Kansas City opens their season with a home game against the Cleveland Browns.
Series History: Kansas City leads the all-time series 8-5, but Minnesota has outscored the Chiefs 271-235.
Game Prediction: I like Kansas City -4 to get the win in their final preseason game
