The Sunday portion of Week 10 NFL action concludes on Sunday Night Football with the San Francisco 49ers hosting the Los Angeles Chargers. The 5-3 Chargers will be trying to avoid falling multiple games behind the Chiefs in what is now a two team race in the AFC West. The 49ers are 4-4 and trail the surprising Seahawks by a game and a half in the NFC West. They will look to continue to utilize recent acquisition Christian McCaffrey and keep recent success rolling.
The 49ers are set as 7 point favorites at home, and rightfully so. The Chargers passing attack will be depleted once again. Both Mike Williams and Keenan Allen will be sitting out, so the Chargers will be completely reliant on Austin Ekeler, Josh Palmer and Gerald Everett. The 49ers, now with an elite running back in tow, will have a much more effective offensive attack in this game, against a team that has had very real problems with containing opposing running backs.
Christian McCaffrey Player Prop
In his first full game being paired with Kyle Shanahan, McCaffrey was unstoppable against a Rams defense that has been stout. McCaffrey posted the type of statistics we had previously been accustomed to seeing from him. McCaffrey posted 94 rushing yards on 18 carries. He added another 8 catches for 55 yards and an additional touchdown on 9 targets. If that wasn’t enough he added a passing touchdown as well. If there were any delusions of whether the offense would run through McCaffrey, those questions were quickly put to rest.
The matchup for McCaffrey does not get a whole lot better than the one against the Chargers. They are fourth worst in the league in rushing yardage allowed, at 145.5 yards per game. That figure spikes to 159.5 yards allowed per game on the road. We saw what McCaffrey did to a top five rushing defense last week, now the matchup is against a bottom five team.
There are so many different ways to attack McCaffrey overs in this game. His rushing yardage prop currently sits at 79.5 yards after being 73.5 yards just a day ago. Even with that spike, the over remains wildly attractive. His total yardage prop is set at 119.5 yards, and that is the most attractive over on the board. It would be wholly unsurprising if McCaffrey hit that figure with solely rushing or receiving yardage considered. His receptions prop is set at 4.5. While the over is the far better bet, this may be the lowest value of any of his props. Conversely, his receiving yardage prop is just 35.5 yards at most sportsbooks, and the over is a massive value. Lastly, his odds to score a touchdown sit at -150. He is a great bet to score in every game the rest of the way, particularly in this very soft matchup.
