Mavericks vs Suns Game 5 Betting Pick
This game will be played at Footprint Arena at 10:00 PM ET on Tuesday, May 10, 2022.
Why Bet The Suns:
✅ The home team in this series has won and covered the spread in all four games so far. All four games have seen the home team take a double-digit lead at some point in the game, and they have held on to cover the number each time. Expect that trend to continue in Game 5, as the Suns will pick up the victory.
✅ Dallas’ three-point shooting will not be as effective on the road in this pivotal Game 5. Dorian Finney-Smith and Reggie Bullock have made nine threes per game between the two of them over the last two games. That includes a performance featuring eight made threes from Finney-Smith in Game 4, and those two will come back down to Earth in Game 5.

✅ Chris Paul is going to contribute more for the Suns than he did in the last two games, which the Suns lost in Dallas. Paul scored just 17 points combined between Games 3 and 4, and was in foul trouble throughout Game 4 on Sunday. He is going to be on the floor more in this game and is going to get back to his normal level of offensive effectiveness in this key contest.
Dallas Mavericks
The Dallas Mavericks fought back at home to even this series against the Phoenix Suns at two games apiece. The Mavs did a nice job of locking in defensively over those two games, holding the defending Western Conference champions to 97.5 points per game in Games 3 and 4. In Game 5, the Mavericks will have to figure out how to bring that defense with them to Phoenix to slow down the Suns again.
Dallas will also need its supporting cast to continue to step up to support Luka Doncic on the offensive end of the floor. Players like Jalen Brunson and Dorian Finney-Smith have been huge in helping the Mavericks to even this series. But performing at that level on the road will be a tall task for everyone but Doncic, and those role players will need to deliver for Dallas to have a chance at taking the lead in this series.
Phoenix Suns
The Phoenix Suns were not able to pick up a road win against the Dallas Mavericks, relegating them to a 2-2 tie coming back to Phoenix for Game 5. Chris Paul struggled in those two road games, while the Suns as a whole had trouble getting their offense going with a chance to take a 3-1 lead in the series. Back at home, the Suns will hope that they can take advantage of being on their home floor once again.
So far in this series, home teams are undefeated, with home teams dominating in the second round of the playoffs in general. So far, road teams have won just three games out of 16 in the second round of the postseason. If the Suns can do their part to extend that trend with a home win, they will have two chances to knock the Mavericks out in Games 6 and 7.
