Guardians vs Angels Betting Pick
This game will be played at Angel Stadium at 9:38 PM ET on Wednesday, April 27, 2022.
Why Bet The Angels:
✅ After he was shelled for six earned runs in a 10-5 defeat at the Texas Rangers on April 14, Shohei Ohtani bounced back in a 6-0 victory over the Houston Astros last Wednesday. The 27-year-old Japanese superstar whiffed 12 Stars across six innings and surrendered only one hit and one free pass. He needed only 81 pitches to get through six frames, and Ohtani (4.40 ERA; 1.18 FIP; 1.05 WHIP) will look to build on that performance when he faces the Guardians, who failed to score at Angel Stadium in the opening game of this series.
✅ After a strong start and some excellent offensive displays in their first ten outings in 2022, the Guardians have slowed down as of late. Over their previous six contests, the Guardians have scored only 15 runs on an underwhelming .229/.280/.348 slash line. Cleveland recorded just three hits in a 3-0 defeat at Angel Stadium this past Monday.

✅ Zach Plesac has done an excellent job so far this season. He’s yielded three earned runs through 17.2 innings of work (three starts). However, Plesac will have a mountain to climb in this matchup. The Angels are sporting the second-best OPS in the majors (.739). Also, the Halos are slashing .242/.331/.449 against the right-handed pitchers.
Cleveland Guardians
The Guardians extended their losing streak to four games with a 3-0 defeat to the Los Angeles Angels last Monday. I’ve already mentioned their poor offensive performance in the opener, while Shane Bieber took a loss, yielding three earned runs on seven hits and a pair of walks across 6.1 frames of work.
Cleveland owns a 3.61 ERA (17th in the majors) and a 1.13 WHIP (tied-7th). The Guardians’ bullpen carries a 3.63 ERA and 4.00 FIP. Jose Ramirez leads the way for the Guardians’ offense, and the 29-year-old third baseman has already accounted for four home runs and 20 RBIs while posting a .350/.420/.667 batting line.
Los Angeles Angels
Michael Lorenzen pitched six scoreless innings of a three-hit ball last Monday, while Taylor Ward smacked a couple of no-doubters to lift the Angels over the Guardians. Los Angeles improved to 10-7 on the season, tallying their second win in a row.
The Angels’ bullpen is arguably the weakest link, as it owns a 4.18 ERA and 4.81 FIP, yielding 1.52 home runs per nine innings. Los Angeles also needs more offense from Ohtani, who’s slashing only .211/.273/.380 in 2022. Shohei went 0-for-4 in four of his last six games, but he also had a pair of hits and RBIs when he pitched last time in that 6-0 win over the Astros.
