Nebraska vs Northwestern Betting Preview
The Big Ten West heads across the Atlantic to open the 2022 College Football season, when the Northwestern Wildcats and Nebraska Cornhuskers battle it out in Dublin, Ireland. Neither team is expected to be much of a factor this season with Northwestern being picked at the bottom of the West division and Nebraska being picked fifth. This game will air live on FOX.
Last season, expectations were high for Northwestern, they were picked third in the Big Ten West preseason poll, but it was disappointment for the Wildcats as they finished at bottom of the West after going 3-9 overall and 1-8 in the Big Ten. The Wildcats only wins on the season came at home against Indiana State, an FCS opponent, Ohio, who finished 3-9, and Rutgers. Northwestern finished the season losing their last six games.
Nebraska had another disappointing season in 2021 as they finished 3-9 overall and 1-8 in the Big Ten. The Cornhuskers only wins on the season came at home against Fordham, an FCS opponent, Buffalo, who finished 4-8, and these Northwestern Wildcats. Nebraska ended the season losing their final six games.

Nebraska vs Northwestern Betting Pick
Northwestern’s strongest offensive unit is going to be the line as they return four starters from last season. The main piece to that line is their big offensive tackle Peter Skoronski, who is coming off First Team All-Big Ten honors last season. Ryan Hilinski or Brendan Sullivan will be the QB and will rely on RB Evan Hull and WR Mike Washington. Defense will be the strong point for Northwestern, like always, and that unit will be led by CB AJ Hampton, DE Adetomiwa Adebawore and LB Bryce Gallagher.
Nebraska will be hoping for a revamped offense this season with QB Adrian Martinez transferring out and Texas QB Casey Thompson coming in. Thompson should win the job, but Chubba Purdy and Logan Smothers will also be competing for the starting role. The Cornhuskers are stacked at WR with transfers Trey Palmer, Marcus Washington and Isaiah Garcia-Castaneda join the big man, Omar Manning. Defensively, Nebraska will be bad, but the line has talent with Garrett Nelson, Stephon Wynn and Ochaun Mathis rushing the QB. The Cornhuskers worked the transfer market for secondary help as they brought in Cam Taylor-Britt, DeShaun Singleton and Omar Brown, to go with returners Myles Farmer and Quinton Newsome.
Series History: Nebraska leads the all-time series 9-6 after winning 56-7 last season in Lincoln.
