Mystics vs Storm Game 2 Betting Pick
This game will be played at Climate Pledge Arena at 4:00 PM ET on Sunday, August 21, 2022.
The Washington Mystics and Seattle Storm played an incredibly competitive first game in their first round WNBA playoff series. The Storm took that matchup, and will look to close the Mystics out in Game 2 at home. But the Mystics have proven they are more than capable of hanging with the Storm and cannot be counted out here. In our WNBA picks for the playoffs, we break down Mystics vs Storm Game 2.
Why Bet The Mystics:
✅ The Washington Mystics held the lead in the final minutes of Game 1 against the Seattle Storm. They did so despite a pretty subpar shooting night from the perimeter. Expect the Mystics to be better from beyond the arc in Game 2, and for them to continue to go toe to toe with the Storm for the duration of this series.
✅ Seattle got the win in Game 1, and did so on the back of an unsustainably hot shooting night. The Storm went 10/20 from three-point range, going 50% from beyond the arc in a game where they were outplayed in most other facets. A regression to the mean from deep will benefit the Mystics as they look to force a Game 3.

✅ In what should be another close contest in Game 2, there is no player that can be trusted with the ball late than Elena Delle Donne. Delle Donne put on a clinic down the stretch from the mid-range and getting to the basket. She will continue to score down the stretch and put the Mystics in position to win this game, or at least keep things within a possession again.
Washington Mystics
The Washington Mystics led for the bulk of their game against the Seattle Storm in Game 1 of the WNBA playoffs first round. But they faded slightly on offense down the stretch, while the Storm caught fire offensively in the final minutes. As a result, the Mystics are one loss away from being eliminated from the playoffs going into Sunday afternoon.
For the Mystics, finding three-point shooting from sources other than Ariel Atkins will be huge to their survival in Game 2. Outside of Atkins’ four made threes, the Mystics got three made threes from the rest of their roster. If the Mystics do not get contributions from elsewhere on the perimeter, their season could end in very disappointing fashion on Sunday.
Seattle Storm
The Seattle Storm barely came away with a home win in Game 1 of their first round series with the Washington Mystics. The Storm trailed at the half and after three quarters, but made all of the plays that they needed to down the stretch to get on the board in their series opener. Now, the Storm will look to finish the Mystics at home to avoid having to play a series deciding game on the road after a cross-country trip.
Consistency on offense is going to be important for the Storm if they want to have an easier game than they did in Game 1. Breanna Stewart and Jewell Loyd came alive in the second half when the Storm needed them. But they both struggled in the first half, putting the Storm in a precarious situation. If the top two threats on the Storm can deliver four strong quarters offensively on Sunday, this series could end in two games.
