There are three games in the WNBA on Sunday and we’ll look at the last one to tip-off, as the Connecticut Sun visit the Minnesota Lynx.
Connecticut at Minnesota Betting Odds
The Sun opened as 2-point favorites at William Hill and the line in still there. The total has moved from 159 to 157.5.
Connecticut Sun
The Sun sit atop of the WNBA standings with a 6-1 record, having gone 3-0 at home and 3-1 on the road. The team’s lone loss of the season came at 5-1 Seattle, the defending WNBA champions.
The Sun were dealt a blow before the season started with the loss of Alyssa Thomas, who averaged 15.5 points last season, but the team hasn’t really missed a beat. The Sun could be the best defensive team in the league, although they haven’t really shown it the past two games, allowing 90 points to the Storm and 81 to the Mystics, who were without Elena Delle Donne. Jonquel Jones leads the Sun with 20 points per game, while DeWanna Bonner is right behind with 18.4.
Minnesota Lynx
The Lynx have dropped all four games this season and it’s a bit of a surprise to see them 0-4 considering they were a powerhouse only a couple of seasons ago. Sylvia Fowles leads the team with 18 points a game and then it goes downhill a little bit to Napheesa Collier and her 14 points.
Minnesota’s defense hasn’t been good, although two of their four games were against Seattle, who can make anybody look bad. The lost 77-75 to Phoenix on opening night and then had an 8-point lead against Seattle with 4:44 to go and somehow ended up losing by 12. Seattle won the next game in Seattle, 82-72, although it wasn’t that close, as the Lynx outscored Seattle 22-5 in the fourth quarter after the Storm cleared the bench.
Connecticut Sun at Minnesota Lynx Pick
It’s a little surprising the line is as low as it is here, since you have the team with the best record in the league playing the team with the worst record. I have this one 78-77 for Connecticut and will take the under, even though we lost 1.5 points on the total in the time it took me to write this up. After allowing 58 points to Seattle in the first half of last game, think the Lynx pick up the defensive intensity, while the Sun look to get back to their defensive ways, as the game against Washington was closer than it should have been.
