The Seattle Storm visit the Dallas Wings in the lone game on the WNBA schedule for Saturday. Tip-off is slated for 8 p.m. EST.
Seattle at Dallas Betting Odds
The Storm are favored by 6.5 points and the total on the game is 168. Seattle is favored by 3.5 in the first half, where the total is 84. The first-quarter line has the Storm -2 and a total of 42.5. Seattle is -270 on the moneyline, with Dallas +230.
Seattle Storm
The Storm have played three games so far this season, splitting a pair of home against Las Vegas to open the season and then coming away with a 90-78 victory over the Minnesota Lynx two nights ago, as they erased a 19-point deficit and went on to take the victory. Seattle actually trailed by 8 points with 4:44 to go in the game, but outscored Minnesota Minnesota 23-3, as the Lynx put on a clinic of how not to play basketball.
Seattle’s big guns have been doing most of the heavy lifting this season, with Breanna Stewart and Jewell Loyd doing the bulk of the scoring and Sue Bird came up big against Minnesota. Seattle is shooting 47.2% from the field this year and allowing 46.8% shooting, although that has more to do with playing Las Vegas twice than it does playing poor defense.
Dallas Wings
The Wings have only played one game this season, but it was a good one, as Dallas rolled into Los Angeles and came away with a 94-71 win over the LA Sparks. Los Angeles led 27-20 after the first quarter and then it was all Dallas, as the Sparks’ bench was a combined 6 for 32 from the field. The win did lose a little bit of luster, as LA was drilled by Las Vegas last night.
Dallas doesn’t have a whole lot of veteran leadership, with a number of rookies and second-year players who were high draft picks, so it’s difficult to say how long it will take the team to come together. The Mavericks play at 4:30 p.m., which might held get a few more bodies in the seats.
Seattle Storm at Dallas Wings Pick
With Dallas just having one game so far, this is a tough one to predict. The Storm have been what we thought they would be so far, but Dallas is still an unknown. This is the first home game for Dallas this season, so my ratings are as much of a guess as anything. Seattle was favored by 5 at Minnesota and the Lynx are thought of as being slightly better than Dallas, so the number appears to be in the ballpark. I have this one 91-80 for Seattle, so will take a shot on the over 168.5. Dallas did allow the Sparks’ two big players to go a combined 13 for 25, which could spell trouble against Stewart, but Dallas may be able to put up points, a well.
