The Washington Mystics visit the Indiana Fever for a Sunday afternoon game beginning at 1 p.m. EST
Washington at Indiana Betting Odds
The game opened even and now Washington is favored by 2 points and the total on the game is 163. Washington is -130 on the moneyline.
The Mystics are still without their big gun in Elena Delle Donne, who had back surgery in the offseason and was expected to miss at least the first week of the season. The Mystics are 1-2 on the season and are coming off a blowout win over the New York Liberty in a game that saw the team shoot better than 50% from 3-point range.
Without Delle Donne, much of the load has fallen on the shoulders of Tina Charles, who showed last game she still has it and poured in 34 points, while Ariel Atkins scored 25 and was 5 for 7 from downtown. The Mystics will be a better team shortly when they’re healthy, but need players like Leilani Mitchell to pick their games back up, as you can’t have starters averaging 1.0 points per game and shooting less than 6% from the field.
The Fever lost at home to the Atlanta Dream last time, which is saying something since Atlanta isn’t very good at all. Indiana began the season with a pair of losses to New York and were drilled by undefeated Connecticut before falling at home 83-79 to the Dream.
Tiffany Mitchell and Kelsey Mitchell can play a little bit, but haven’t gotten enough help from the rest of their team when one of them is having an off night.
Washington Mystics at Indiana Fever Pick
I have Washington winning this one 88-78, but am a little leery of the Mystics in this spot, with them coming off a huge win and Indiana falling at home. But my projection is three points higher than the total of 163, so will take the over in this one and hope to see plenty of fouls called, as both teams shoot better than 78% from the foul line.
