The biggest game of Week 9 takes place down in Baton Rouge as the #9 Auburn Tigers 6-1 (3-1) take on the #2 LSU Tigers 7-0 (4-0) in a game filled with College Football Playoff implications. Both Auburn and LSU are alive for the College Football Playoff and a SEC championship game appearance, but a loss Saturday afternoon will eliminate Auburn from both.
LSU us currently 3-0 in the SEC and one game behind the 4-0 Alabama Crimson Tide, but if LSU keeps winning none of that will matter as those two schools will meet in two weeks. Auburn, on the other hand, sit at 3-1 in the SEC and if they have any chance of getting to the SEC championship game have to beat LSU to set up an Iron Bowl with everything on the line.
Below is my pick for #9 Auburn at #2 LSU. All lines are from the FanDuel Sportsbook.
#9 Auburn Tigers at #2 LSU Tigers (-10.5): O/U 58.5 points (-110/-110)
#9 Auburn got back to their winning ways last week with an easy 51-10 win over the lowly Arkansas Razorbacks. It was a nice rebound by the Tigers as they were coming off their first loss of the season to then #10 Florida a few weeks back. Auburn has already played three ranked opponents this season and have come away with a 27-21 over then #11 Oregon on opening night, beat then #17 Texas A&M 28-20 and had that one loss to then #10 Florida 24-13. Auburn is 6-1 ATS and the under has hit in three of seven games this season.
#2 LSU improved to 7-0 in 2019 with a routine 36-13 win at Mississippi State last time out. LSU, and Heisman favorite Joe Burrow, has the offense rolling this season as the Tigers are 2nd in the nation averaging 385.7 yards per game and are averaging 50.1 points scored per game. LSU has faced two other ranked teams this year, both in the top 10, and came away with a road victory over then #9 Texas, 45-38, and knocked off then #7 Florida 42-28 a few weeks back in Baton Rouge. LSU is 5-1-1 ATS and the over has hit in four of the six games with totals listed.
Series History: The LSU Tigers lead the all-time series 30-22-1 and are currently on a two game winning streak in the series.
Game Prediction: I don’t see LSU slowing down this week, so I am backing LSU -10.5 on Saturday.
