Storm vs Mystics Betting Pick
This game will be played at Entertainment & Sports Arena at 3:00 PM ET on Sunday, July 31, 2022.
On Saturday, the Seattle Storm and Washington Mystics played a highly competitive game, which Seattle won on the road. Sunday, they are set to do it all over again, with the hosts looking for a different result this time around. In our WNBA picks for Sunday afternoon, we take a look at the second Storm vs Mystics matchup in as many days.
Why Bet The Mystics:
✅ The Storm won Saturday’s game between these teams thanks to a plus-13 run at the beginning of the fourth quarter. That is far from a sustainable way to win, especially on a road back to back. Outside of that one run, the Mystics were just as good as the Storm and should be able to salvage a split from this weekend’s action.
✅ Washington also missed a series of layups that they should be able to convert on if they get those looks again on Sunday. Shakira Austin had a very difficult first half for the Mystics, which prevented Washington from getting the lead they needed to avoid falling behind in the fourth. Expect a more polished performance from the Mystics here.

✅ The line movement in this game is tough to justify. Sure, Seattle beat the Mystics in the first game of this two-game set. But it’s not as if these are different teams playing on Sunday. The Mystics should still be favored by at least three points, even if they came up just short on Saturday afternoon.
Seattle Storm
The Seattle Storm beat the Washington Mystics in an early afternoon game on Saturday. While neither offense played particularly well in that game, the Storm had a big start to the fourth quarter to put themselves in position to win. The question now is whether the schedule for the Storm is too much for them to overcome on Sunday.
This will be the third game in four days on the road for the Storm. While they do have a solid bench that they can rely on, asking any team to deliver in a spot like this is difficult. Of course, if Breanna Stewart, Tina Charles, and Jewell Loyd combine for another 51 points, it might not be as difficult.
Washington Mystics
The Washington Mystics have to feel disappointed after blowing a chance to move into fourth place in the WNBA standings on Saturday. Now, the best the Mystics can do is pull back even with the Storm, though they would still sit in fifth place due to the head to head tiebreaker going in Seattle’s favor. If the Mystics want to get back to where they were at the start of this weekend, they will need to put forth a better offensive showing.
Elena Delle Donne surely did her part against the Storm on Saturday, leading all scorers with 22 points. But no other Mystics player scored more than 13 points, and the team shot a woeful 6/20 from three-point range. Delle Donne is going to need some help to avoid a season sweep at the hands of the Storm here.
