- The Lynx won the Commissioner’s Cup on Tuesday but are at a rest disadvantage for this game after playing in that cup final.
- This game features a very early start on a summer camp day for the Wings, which should mean a pretty substantial home-court advantage for Dallas.
The Minnesota Lynx won the Commissioner’s Cup on Tuesday night with a brilliant performance in the second half against the New York Liberty. Today, they have to play on a tight turnaround against the Dallas Wings, who are looking to snap an 11-game losing streak. In our WNBA betting picks for Thursday, we break down Lynx vs Wings in a matinee from the Metroplex.
This game will be played at College Park Center at 1:00 PM ET on Thursday, June 27, 2024.
Minnesota Lynx
The Minnesota Lynx come into Thursday’s WNBA action with a record of 13-3 and 14-3 if you count their Commissioner’s Cup triumph on Tuesday against the New York Liberty. Minnesota is the best three-point shooting team in the WNBA, something they displayed prominently on Tuesday in New York. Today, they will look to keep hitting shots from the outside against a Wings team that is struggling mightily of late.
Minnesota’s three-point shooting has not just been impressive because of the number of shots they are making, but also because of the number of players making them. Kayla McBride and Napheesa Collier are both lethal offensively. But when role players like Bridget Carleton and Cecilia Zandalasini are shooting a combined 8/11 from three-point range like they did against the Liberty on Tuesday, the Lynx become legitimate title contenders.
Dallas Wings
Going into Thursday’s Lynx vs Wings matchup, the Dallas Wings have lost 11 games in a row. That losing streak has dropped them into last place in the WNBA standings, in what has been a disaster of a campaign for them. The question now for the Wings is whether they can get a win at home to start to turn things around. While they have been struggling on the floor, the presence of a loud crowd of local young could be just what they need to hear.
While things are looking bleak for the Wings, at least two of their top stars are back on the floor together. Natasha Howard and Arike Ogunbowale have both missed time due to injury this season but will play in this game. While getting Satou Sabally back after the Olympics will be huge for this team, having Howard and Ogunbowale at least gives them a fighting chance at home today.
