Three games on the WNBA schedule after a day off on Monday. The big one is the rematch between Las Vegas and Seattle, while Phoenix at Washington has lost a little luster with Elene Delle Donne not expected to play, but back injuries can be a little tricky. The game with the best betting value could be Minnesota at New York.
Minnesota at New York Betting Odds
The Lynx are favored by 2.5 at William Hill and the total on the game is 154.5. The Lynx are -145 on the moneyline and the price on New York is +125.
Minnesota Lynx
The Lynx have only played one game so far this season and they lost at home to the Phoenix Mercury on a late 3-pointer by Diana Turasi. Minnesota didn’t play bad, they were beaten by a team who played a little better. The Mercury had more rebounds and the Lynx had a couple of starters who had to take it easy on defense after picking up four fouls.
Kayla McBride had 17 points in her Minnesota debut, while Aeriel Powers scored a team-high 18 points in the game. Sylvia Fowles had 11 points and 11 rebounds, but the bench players did very little and it cost them at the end.
New York Liberty
The Liberty are off to a 2-0 start this season, but those games came against the Indiana Fever, which is the WNBA equivalent of winning a pair of games against the Detroit Pistons. You can’t fault the Liberty for what they’ve done, however, as a win is a win regardless of who the competition is.
The Liberty came out strong last game against Indiana, racing out to a 31-18 lead after the first quarter. Betnijah Laney led the Liberty with 30 points in their opening game, while she had a team-high 20 points in the second victory over the Fever.
Minnesota Lynx at New York Liberty Pick
Minnesota is a better team than New York and I have the Lynx winning 84-75, so will take Minnesota in this one. The Lynx are 0-1 for the season and while it’s still early, falling to 0-2 would put the team in an early hole, so expect a big effort from the Lynx tonight.
