The Las Vegas Aces and Seattle Storm split the first two games of their best of five WNBA semifinal series. Now the series shifts to Seattle, where the Storm will play the role of host for a massive Game 3. In our WNBA picks for Sunday afternoon, we look at Aces vs Storm Game 3, as both teams look to take a lead that would give them two chances to close this series out en route to the WNBA Finals.
Why Bet The Storm:
✅ Seattle used its superior defense to make things difficult on the Aces in the first two games of this series in Las Vegas. The Aces needed 33 points from A’ja Wilson to win by a slim margin in Game 2 after the Storm held her and Kelsey Plum in check in Game 1. Barring another all-time great performance from Wilson, the defense of the Storm will continue to be the difference maker in this series.
✅ On the Seattle side offensively, Jewell Loyd and Sue Bird had an abysmal Game 2. They combined to score 14 points on 4/15 shooting in the game that Las Vegas claimed on Wednesday night. Loyd has been great against the Aces for most of this season, and will get back on the right track here against an Aces team that has struggled to defend her on a consistent basis.

✅ Despite their shooting woes in Game 2, the Seattle Storm did a great job of managing turnovers in the losing effort. Seattle turned the ball just five times in Game 2, and their attention to detail on the offensive end will be all the more valuable on Sunday as long a their offensive efficiency does not completely betray them for the second straight game.
Las Vegas Aces
The Las Vegas Aces were in danger of falling behind 2-0 to the Seattle Storm, but they put together a strong third quarter to pull away from the Storm to even this series. In Aces vs Storm Game 3, they will need another huge game from A’ja Wilson, but the lack of depth for the Storm is a concern that they may not be able to overcome.
Las Vegas got just two bench points in Game 2 of this series, with Riquana Williams being the only bench scorer for the Aces. No bench player made a field goal for the Aces, with Williams’ two points coming from the free-throw line. Frankly, the decision to not play Theresa Plaisance at any point in this series so far has been baffling, as her ability to shoot from the outside would provide a spark off the bench that the Aces have lacked in this series.
Seattle Storm
The Seattle Storm managed to get a split in the first two games of this semifinal series against the Las Vegas Aces. After winning Game 1, the Storm failed to take a 2-0 lead in Game 2, but the Storm have to feel good knowing they can close this series out with two straight home wins. To get there, the Storm will need to provide some help for Breanna Stewart.
Stewart scored 32 points in Game 2, going 12/23 from the field. But Jewell Loyd and Sue Bird were not at their best by any stretch of the imagination. Loyd’s offensive output in Game 3 will be especially important, as she has scored into the 30s against the Aces previously this season, and another offensive outburst from her could put the Storm ahead in this series once and for all.
