- The Sky should have a tougher time shooting the ball than they did in the first meeting between these teams this season.
- Alyssa Thomas won’t get thrown out of this game, which should help the Sun on defense.
The last time the Connecticut Sun visited the Chicago Sky, there was some controversy on the court, as Alyssa Thomas was thrown out for a hard foul on Angel Reese. Tonight, the Sun and Sky meet again in Chicago, with the previous meeting between them creating some added intrigue this time around. Continue reading for our breakdown and WNBA betting picks for Sun vs Sky.
This game will be played at 8:00 PM ET at Wintrust Arena on Wednesday, June 12, 2024.
Connecticut Sun
Nobody has been better than the Connecticut Sun so far this WNBA season. The Sun have lost just once in 11 games, with that lone loss coming to an elite New York Liberty team. Tonight, Connecticut will look for a second win in Chicago on the season, but hopefully one where their leader Alyssa Thomas remains available for the duration.
Thomas was assessed a Flagrant 2 foul for taking Reese to the ground during Connecticut’s win in the first Sun vs Sky matchup of the 2024 season. Reese did not make a big deal of the foul, to her credit, and all parties seemed to have moved on normally. But losing Thomas for any period of time in this game could make things closer than they need to be for the first-place Sun.
Chicago Sky
The Chicago Sky are 4-6 so far this season in the WNBA. That is good for eighth place, which would be enough to claim the final playoff spot in the league if the season ended today. However, the season does not end today and Chicago needs to find a way to win some games to help keep themselves above the four teams beneath them in the standings.
For Chicago, consistency shooting the three-point shot has been an issue this year. Chicago ranks 11th out of 12 WNBA teams in three-point shooting percentage, ahead of only the Dallas Wings. But Chicago did make 47.1% of their threes against Connecticut in their last meeting in Chicago, a number they will need to duplicate if they are going to have a shot at beating a team that only one team has beaten so far this season.
