Sky vs Liberty Game 3 Betting Pick
This game will be played at Barclays Center at 9:00 PM ET on Tuesday, August 23, 2022.
The Chicago Sky and New York Liberty split the first two games of their WNBA playoffs first round series in Chicago. Now, the series shifts back to New York for a deciding Game 3 in Brooklyn. Chicago will hope for a repeat performance of their destruction of the Liberty in Game 2, while the Liberty will look to complete their first round upset bid. In our WNBA picks for the playoffs, we look at Sky vs Liberty Game 3 from Barclays Center.
Why Bet The Liberty:
✅ The Sky absolutely destroyed the Liberty in Game 2 of this series, setting a WNBA record for the biggest postseason win of all-time. But that was in Chicago, where the Sky have performed well against the Liberty. In New York, the Sky are 1-1 against the Liberty, with those two games being decided by a combined five points. Expect a really close game here.
✅ Game 2 of this series was simply an anomaly in terms of the performance on both sides. The Liberty made just three shots from three-point range, well below their season average. Some of that had to do with the Chicago defense, but we should see the Liberty come back to their normal levels of performance at home with everything on the line.

✅ A better defensive effort can be expected from the Liberty in this series deciding game. Chicago got layup after layup in Game 2 over the weekend. Sandy Brondello will preach defensive intensity in Game 3, and her team will respond with some rim protection if nothing else, which will help them keep this game within two possessions.
Chicago Sky
The Chicago Sky faced elimination on Saturday afternoon after losing the first game of their playoff campaign against the New York Liberty. Chicago responded with an historic performance, beating the Liberty by 38 points, the largest margin of victory in WNBA playoff history. Now, the Sky look to complete their comeback in this best-of-three series, with a spot in the semifinals on the line.
It is not realistic to expect the Sky to come out and demolish the Liberty the way they did in Game 2. However, it is realistic to expect the Sky to come out with the same level of intensity and energy that they did in Saturday’s elimination game. If the Liberty do not come out and match the Sky in those departments, Chicago could easily advance on Tuesday night.
New York Liberty
After a brilliant performance to upset the Chicago Sky in Game 1 of the WNBA playoffs, the New York Liberty were reminded why the Sky won the title a season ago in Game 2. New York was beaten from the start of Game 2, as the Sky outhustled them, outworked them, and forced a Game 3 in Brooklyn. Now, it is up to the Liberty to respond if they want their season to continue.
Defensive improvement will be mandatory for the Liberty in Game 3. But they will also need more from their guards on the offensive end of the floor if they want to have a shot in this game. Sabrina Ionescu scored seven points on Saturday, which is nowhere near sufficient given her high-usage style. Ionescu and Marine Johannes have to put some points up to keep up with a Sky guard group that torched them over the weekend.
