Offseason Transactions
Key Additions: John Collins
Key Departures: Rudy Gay
The Jazz struck a positive note in the offseason, bringing in John Collins while losing Rudy Gay. That upgrade will allow the Jazz to move Kelly Olynyk to the bench, giving them a much tougher second unit for opponents to deal with. Utah really struggled when Markkanen and Clarkson were off the floor last year, and that could change as the Jazz can rely more on their reserves.
Positives & Negatives
For the Jazz, the starting lineup is their biggest positive going into this season, as they are strong at all five positions on the floor now. This team should be able to compete in crunch time, but their reserves should also be able to keep them from falling too far behind in most of their games this year as well, which will be huge.
On the negative side for Utah, the streaky nature of Clarkson could get them into some trouble. Clarkson can be the best player on the floor in any game the Jazz play in. But he can also look like the worst player on the floor in some games, and he needs to smooth out those peaks and valleys to help the Jazz win long-term.
2023-24 Utah Jazz Win Total Prediction: Over 35.5 Wins
Utah had the best record against the spread in the NBA last season, and they should exceed expectations again this year. They have a better roster than they did a year ago, and the addition of Collins combined with the returns of Collin Sexton and will lead to at least 36 wins. We will see the Jazz go over their season win total in the 2023-24 campaign.
