Grizzlies vs Pelicans Betting Pick
This game will be played at Smoothie King Center at 7:00 PM ET on Saturday, November 13, 2021.
Why Bet The Grizzlies:
✅ Both teams are on a back to back in this game, but the Pelicans are going to be more adversely impacted by that scheduling situation. With Zion Williamson out and Brandon Ingram missing Friday’s game for the Pelicans, their struggles are going to continue here against a playoff-caliber team in the Grizzlies.
✅ New Orleans is 1-12 so far this season, losing nine straight games after picking up their lone victory of the season against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Given their current slide, there is no reason to back the Pelicans in a game where the point spread is just one possession. Even if the Grizzlies are coming off of a loss, they are still far superior to the current version of the Pelicans.

✅ Memphis was blown out by the Phoenix Suns on Friday night, which works in their favor coming into Saturday night. The Grizzlies only played one player more than 26 minutes in their loss on Friday night, which means that their players should be reasonably fresh coming into the second night of a back to back.
Memphis Grizzlies
The Memphis Grizzlies enter Saturday’s game against the Pelicans having lost their last two outings, including Friday’s game against the Phoenix Suns. Memphis allowed Phoenix to make 18 threes in that game, losing by 25 points despite Phoenix being without their starting center DeAndre Ayton. On Saturday, the Grizzlies have a chance to bust out of their slump against a Pelicans team that is struggling even more than Memphis is.
For Memphis to get back into the win column, the Grizzlies will need to play better defense than they have been. Memphis has allowed 115 or more points in each of their last four games. While the Pelicans are severely depleted from a talent standpoint, bad defense will always be a problem in a league like the NBA that is so full of good shot makers. The Grizzlies cannot afford to let up open shots, no matter who they are playing.
New Orleans Pelicans
The New Orleans Pelicans have been the worst team in the NBA to this point in the season, dropping 12 of their first 13 games. Their lone win this season has come against the Minnesota Timberwolves, who are far from impressive in their own right. To get a win against the Grizzlies on Saturday night, the Pelicans are going to have to play better on the offensive end of the floor.
New Orleans has scored over 100 points in only one of their last six games. The Pelicans have dropped nine straight games, and look completely directionless without Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram to pace their offense. Jonas Valanciunas has been their best player without their two top stars being available, which has not been enough to yield results early in the year.
