The Indiana Pacers (44-28) continue a rocky west coast swing tonight vs. the Golden State Warriors (48-22).
WHEN: 10:30 PM ET
WHERE: Oracle Arena, Oakland, California
THE LINE: -11 Golden State Warriors
As ten regular season games remain, Indiana has sunk from its post-Oladipo injury high, losing seven-of-ten. Meanwhile, Boston remains just one game behind Indiana for the East’s final home-court playoff seed. Overall, the Pacers have dropped three straight to quality Western Conference foes, and now must face the defending world champion Warriors tonight at Oracle. On Jan. 28, visiting Golden State steamrolled Indiana 132-100 from Conseco Fieldhouse as five Warriors scored 15-plus points —led by Steph Curry’s 26 PTS in 27 minutes of play. As the lopsided final score indicates, Golden State overmatched Indiana in every category that night as a readied Warriors bench finished the second half.
Most recently, on Tuesday, Danilo Gallinari (24 PTS) and Montrezl Harrel (20 PTS, 12 REBS) availed LAL’s cause as the Clippers’ +7 FTM proved enough to halt Indiana 115-109. Myles Turner and Thaddeus Young underperformed vs. Los Angeles as Bojan Bogdanovic led the Pacers with 19 points. Indiana’s offense has sputtered under the weight of a cross-country, three games in four nights challenge. Minus assist leader Darren Collison (Quad injury) vs. LA, Indiana’s generally compact defense also fell.
Collison remains day-to-day for Indiana.
Indiana averages 107.9 ppg (22nd NBA)
The Pacers allow 104 ppg (1st NBA)
Indiana is 3-7 in its past ten games.
GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS
Having won three-of-four, and positioned atop the Western standings, Golden State is coasting along the stretch run as it readies to pursue a third-straight NBA title. Ahead of tonight’s game, Denver trails GSW by 0.5 games for the West’s top spot. The Warriors rebounded from a recent loss vs. San Antonio by downing Minnesota on the tail end of a back-to-back Tuesday 117-107. Steph Curry (36) and Klay Thompson (28) appeared in postseason form while Golden State shot an efficient 45% from deep to overpower a Timberwolves group that failed to make a return playoff trip this season.
Shaun Livingston (rest) and DeMarcus Cousins (ankle) are listed as game time decisions entering tonight’s contest.
GSW averages 117.6 ppg (1st NBA)
GSW allows 111.7 ppg (17th in NBA)
GSW is 7-3 in its last ten games
GSW is 24-10 SU this season at home
Indiana is 17-19 SU this season away
GSW is 12-21-1 ATS this season at home
Indiana is 14-21-1 ATS this season away
Each team has logged considerable court time over the last four days. However, Indiana wears the look of a group waiting on a much-needed return home. That stated, the Pacers should drop tonight’s contest vs. a steady Golden State team by double digits. Though, if GSW turns up the heat, a 20-point win could easily come their way -but Golden State, and it’s potent offensive trio of Curry, Thompson, and Durant will probably coast against an outgunned Pacers bunch. Look for Golden State to clear its bench ahead of the fourth quarter, but still cover.
Final Score: Golden State Warriors: 117 – Indiana Pacers: 102
