Offseason Transactions
Key Additions: Joe Harris, Monte Morris, Marcus Sasser, Ausar Thompson
Key Departures: Saddiq Bey, Hamidou Diallo, Nerlens Noel
One would have to consider the offseason for the Detroit Pistons a net positive. While losing Saddiq Bey is not exactly a positive, bringing in experienced players in Joe Harris and Monte Morris in his place is. Meanwhile, rookies Marcus Sasser and Ausar Thompson are both promising prospects, which could help the young Pistons improve this season.
Positives & Negatives
The biggest positive for the Pistons coming into this year is the return of Cade Cunningham, who missed so many games last year. Cunningham playing a full season with Bojan Bogdanovic will make for an interesting season, perhaps the best since the brief playoff runs led by Andre Drummond many years ago.
But the reality for the Pistons is that they are still a very inexperienced team that will have its share of struggles throughout this season. The defensive end of the floor could be especially gruesome for Detroit after a year where only the Rockets, Spurs, and Pacers gave up more points per game.
2023-24 Detroit Pistons Win Total Prediction: Over 27.5 Wins
While the Detroit Pistons have some clear roster limitations, we really like the duo of Cunningham and Bogdanovic. This team is not yet a playoff-caliber squad, but they should be respectable and win somewhere around 30 games. We will take the over on the Pistons season win total and hope that Cunningham can last the year.
