Mavericks vs Suns Game 2 Betting Pick
This game will be played at Footprint Arena at 10:00 PM ET on Wednesday, May 4, 2022.
Why Bet The Suns:
✅ The Mavericks got 45 points from Luka Doncic in Game 1 of this series, and they still failed to cover the number against the Suns. If Doncic scores at a more normal clip for him in this game, the Mavs should fall even further behind a Suns team that is healthy again and looked great for most of the series opening game.
✅ Dallas also made 41% of their three-point shots in the first game of the series, falling short of the number anyway. Dallas is a good three-point shooting team, but they punched above their weight in that department, making a ton of threes late in the game to bring themselves closer than they were for the first three quarters of action. Some regression from long distance will help the Suns here as well.

✅ Deandre Ayton dominated in the paint as expected in the first game of this series. Ayton made 12 of his 20 field goal attempts in Game 1, as Dwight Powell really is not built to check Ayton whatsoever. Ayton will continue to deliver efficient scoring in the starting lineup for the Suns, which will help them get out to another double-digit advantage.
Dallas Mavericks
The Dallas Mavericks outscored the Phoenix Suns in the second half of Game 1, but that was not enough to help them win the game. Jason Kidd’s team fell way behind Phoenix in the first half, and could not muster enough offense in the second half to get out of that hole. In Game 2, the Mavs will look for a better start to keep themselves competitive in this game for much longer than they were in Game 1.
For Dallas to have success in this series, it feels like Luka Doncic will need to have monster game after monster game. He scored 45 points in Game 1, helping the Mavericks claw back into things late in the second half. If he does not score into the high-30s or more again in this game, the Mavericks may fall behind 2-0 before heading home.
Phoenix Suns
Phoenix took advantage of having Devin Booker back in their lineup in Game 1 of this series against the Dallas Mavericks. Booker scored 23 points, as the Suns took a 13-point halftime lead and held on to win by seven points. The combination of Booker and Deandre Ayton was devastating in the series opener, as they combined for 48 points to pace Phoenix to victory.
In Game 2, the Suns will look for the same level of balance that they achieved in Game 1. Phoenix had six players score in double figures on Monday night, with all five starters reaching 10 or more points along with Cam Johnson off the bench. This was the closest Phoenix has looked to last year’s Western Conference championship team during this postseason, and they will look to replicate that form on Wednesday night.
