The Boston Celtics evened the Eastern Conference Finals at two games apiece on Monday, riding a fast start to an easy victory. The series now shifts back to Miami for a massive Game 5, where the winner will be just one game away from a spot in the NBA Finals. In our NBA predictions for Wednesday night, we look at Celtics vs Heat Game 5 in a game that will go a long way in deciding this series.
Why Bet The Heat:
✅ The starters for the Miami Heat will be much better than they were in Game 4 of this series. Miami’s starters scored just 18 combined points in Game 4, with PJ Tucker and Max Strus both being shut out in that contest. Expect a lot more from Jimmy Butler and Strus in particular, which will help the Heat to gain the upper hand in this series once again.
✅ An injured Marcus Smart is much more of a negative for the Celtics on the road than it is at home. Even if Smart plays, he will not be at 100%, which hurts more in a road environment where the crowd is not working to spur the Celtics on. Miami will take full advantage of the ailment surrounding Smart, and pick up a win in Game 5.

✅ It is worth noting how much better Victor Oladipo has been in the last two games of this series compared to the first two games. Oladipo has been making meaningful plays on both ends of the floor for the Heat. With Tyler Herro out, the improved play of Oladipo will help Miami keep things moving in the right direction while their second unit is on the floor.
Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics took an 18-1 lead in the first quarter against the Miami Heat in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals. They never looked back from there, winning the game by 20 points to even this series at two games apiece. Boston wasn’t great offensively in Game 4, but their defense held the Heat to just 82 points, which was more than good enough to cover for their offensive shortcomings.
In Game 5, though, the Celtics will need to be better on the offensive end of the floor to take a 3-2 series lead. They shot just 8/34 from three-point range on Monday night, with Payton Pritchard being the only Celtic to make more than one long-range shot. On the road, the shooting will need to be better for the Celtics to avoid falling behind for a third time in this series.
Miami Heat
Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals was a disaster for the Miami Heat, as they scored just a handful of points in the first 10 minutes of action. They were never able to recover from that, as the Heat lost by 20 points. In Game 5, the Heat will hope that a return home will help them return to form in the biggest game of their season so far.
Miami is 7-1 at home this postseason, going 1-1 at FTX Arena after a 6-0 start to the postseason on their home floor. Boston has already won a game in Miami in this series, so there are no sure things for the Heat here. But Miami is an enticing underdog at home in this game in a series where momentum has shifted back and forth throughout.
