Why Bet the Thunder:
✅ The Thunder are one of the better teams in the league over the month of January, winning five of their last six games.
✅ Atlanta is developing a turnover problem of late, giving up 34 over the last two games. The Thunder forced the Hawks into 18 turnovers in their first game this season.
✅ OKC already has a win over the Hawks in Atlanta earlier this season, earning a 121-114 road victory back on December 5.

Best Hawks vs Thunder Sportsbook Promo
The best value for betting on Hawks vs Thunder can be found at DraftKings Sportsbook. There, new customers can bet $5 on this NBA game from OKC. The Atlanta Hawks were as hot as the Thunder and on a five game winning streak until a two game skid cooled off their now gone momentum. Missing De’Andre Hunter, the Hawks were sloppy with the basketball in a 111-100 loss to the Chicago Bulls.
Turnovers typically aren’t a concern for the Hawks. With the confident backcourt duo of Dejounte Murray and Trae Young, the Hawks average 12.5 turnovers per game. To give up 34 in two nights is rare and with their 18 turnovers against OKC costing them the first matchup, it will be a key focus of Hawks head coach Nate McMillan to get his team to value the basketball.
Three point shooting remains a weakness for the Hawks. Atlanta is 25th in the league in team 3PT% at 34.5% and attempts close to four fewer three point shots than the league average.
Oklahoma City Thunder
When top draft pick Chet Holmgren was lost for his rookie season, many expected a bleak season near the bottom of the league for the Oklahoma City Thunder. Thanks to MVP level play from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and a breakout season from Josh Giddey, the Thunder are 2023’s hottest team instead of cellar dwellers.
Gilgeous-Alexander had 34 points in the Thunder’s massive 101-99 win over the Denver Nuggets on Sunday. SGA also scored the game winning bucket with 9.2 seconds left to steal the win for his team.
The game winner and big buckets down the stretch continued a season of scoring in the clutch for SGA. With 99 clutch points scored in the final 5:00 of games within five points, Gilgeous-Alexander ranks third in the league as his big scoring nights are far from empty calories.
Part of Gilgeous-Alexander’s scoring success in January has been the improved play of Josh Giddey. With Giddey often bringing the ball up and taking some of the playmaking load, Gilgeous-Alexander’s turnovers have dropped from 3.3 per game to 1.8 over the last nine with less pressure to create all of the offense.
The Thunder are playing for a chance to reach .500 but against the spread they have been one of the best teams in the NBA. Underdogs in most games, the scrappy Thunder are 30-16-1 against the spread this season.
