Casey O’Neill vs Antonina Shevchenko Betting Preview
Not all Shevchenkos are created equal. That is to say we must not get Antonina or her skill set confused with that of Valentina. Shevchenko is a striker that will have success in the stand up portion of most fights. She has had success against lower level fighters and those without a grappling skill set. Her UFC losses on the other hand, have come against fighters with that grappling skill set. All of Andrea Lee, Katlyn Chookagian and Roxanne Modafferi took her down at least three times, and won the fight on the mat. This matchup may be the worst stylistic one she has had to date, and it will be of unspeakable importance for her to keep the fight standing if she is going to avoid being rolled over.

Casey O’Neill has just two UFC fights under her belt, but her skill set on the floor has been announced over a loud speaker. She finished both of those wins and gets an advancement in difficulty of opponent. Now, how big of a competition jump is a large question due the lack of a rounded nature to Shevchenko’s game. Shevchenko is the best striker O’Neill has fought to date, and O’Neill will likely have some difficulty in the standup portion of this fight. Fortunately, she will be able to impose her will and make the fight take place on the mat. She is simply a superior wrestler and grappler and I think she will have a massive strength advantage. O’Neill is just so heavy on top, I do not foresee Shevchenko being able to return to her feet. One takedown in any given round is likely all it takes for O’Neill to finish the round there. With that kind of time to rain ground and pound and work towards submissions, a finish is in the cards for her.
Casey O’Neill vs Antonina Shevchenko Betting Pick
O’Neill will use this fight to announce herself as a contender in the flyweight division. She may have issues down the road if drawing a higher end fighter with a rounded skill set, but that will not be the case in this fight. She has a glaring path to victory and that grappling path is what she goes into the octagon to do. The ITD line sits at +140 on the -220 favorite and brings the most value. She has shown she knows how to finish on the floor and Shevchenko has shown that’s where she can be finished. Take O’Neill ITD.
