Courtney Vandersloot had just the second triple-double in WNBA playoff history, scoring 11 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and dishing out 18 assists. The key for Chicago was their defense, which held the Sun to just 37.8% from the field. Chicago did match the Sun in rebounding, with both teams grabbing 42 and if the Sky can stay even on the boards, they’ll be able to keep things relatively close with Connecticut.
Connecticut Sun
The Sun received a rude awakening in the first game against the Sky, seeing their defense shredded and struggling offensively. The Sun had dismal offensive games from DeWanna Bonner, Jasmine Thomas and Alyssa Thomas, with the trip shooting a combined 9 for 37 and when some of your key players can’t hit 25% from the field, you’re going to be in trouble.
The Sun did have 17 offensive rebounds and shot 10 more free throws that the Sky, but it wasn’t enough and they ran out of steam in the second overtime. While Connecticut missed some easy shots in the opener, they were more concerned with some of their missed defensive assignments.

Chicago at Connecticut Pick
The Sun have their backs against the wall and think they’re going to respond in a big way here. Connecticut should have won the opening game if a few of their key players had shot the ball just halfway decent and expect Bonner to have a big game for the home team here. Not really thrilled with the line being quite so high, but the sportsbooks are almost asking you to take Chicago here and more often that not, when you see that, the opposing team covers.
