Astros vs Angels Betting Pick
This game will be played at Angel Stadium at 9:38 PM ET on Wednesday, July 13, 2022.
Why Bet The Angels:
✅ Shohei Ohtani will take the mound for the Angels, and the 28-year-old two-way superstar is arguably the only reason why the home team is a fave to win this battle. Ohtani is riding a five-game winning streak and hasn’t allowed a single earned run in four straight starts and 26.2 innings pitched. Furthermore, the Halos’ righty has recorded a whopping 34 strikeouts over his previous three appearances while surrendering a paltry nine hits and five free passes across 20.2 frames of work.
✅ Ohtani met Houston twice in April, yielding one run on five hits and a pair of walks while punching out 21 through 10.2 innings in total. The current Astros lineup has only 13 hits, one home run, and .427 OPS in 69 at-bats against Ohtani.

✅ Cristian Javier (6-4; 3.01 ERA) will get the nod for the Astros, and Shohei Ohtani has a couple of home runs in 11 at-bats against him. Mike Trout is hitless in six at-bats versus Javier. He should be fired up to get things going, and the three-time MVP has been hitting the Astros’ bullpen very well. Trout is 5-for-8 with three doubles and a homer against Rafael Montero, 3-for-7 with a couple of dingers versus Ryne Stanek, and has a double in two at-bats against Hector Neris.
Houston Astros
The 56-29 Astros carried the AL-West best record into Tuesday night’s clash against the Angels. They’ve been on a tear lately, winning 11 of their previous 13 games overall, including a two-game series sweep over the New York Mets. Houston has gone 8-2 through its first ten games in July, tallying a 3.03 ERA and a terrific .282/.360/.538 triple-slash. Cristian Javier dominated the Angels on July 1 and struck out 14 across seven innings of a one-run ball, but he yielded five runs through five frames in a losing effort against the Royals last Wednesday.
Los Angeles Angels
The 38-49 Angels entered Tuesday’s contest riding a four-game losing streak. They were seven games behind the bottom wild card, so the Halos desperately need to turn the corner if they want to stay alive in the playoff chase. Los Angeles has won just one of its first nine tilts in July, posting a hideous .183/.257/.275 slash line and a pedestrian 4.96 ERA and 1.41 WHIP.
