Cincinnati vs Atlanta Pick & Prediction
Cincinnati has had a strange offseason that saw them get much worse than last season. Amir Garrett, Eugenio Suarez, Jesse Winker, and Sonny Gray were all traded away mid-March. They also lost Nick Castellanos, Wade Miley, Michael Lorenzen and Asdrubal Cabrera to FA or Waivers. Cincy did bring in Tommy Pham and a few arms that could be dealt at the trade deadline.
The defending champs had a big off season that saw major additions and subtractions. The biggest loss was Freddie Freeman, who went to LA, but the Braves also lost Jorge Solar, Drew Smyly, Joc Pederson, and big-time prospect Cristian Pache. However, Atlanta added plenty of talent with Collin McHugh, Alex Dickerson, Kenley Jansen, and Matt Olson coming over to the NL East.
Pitching Matchup (2021 stats): Tyler Mahle (13-6, 3.75 ERA, 1.23 WHIP) vs Max Fried (14-7, 3.04 ERA, 1.09 WHIP)
