Why Bet The Brewers:
✅ Milwaukee’s offense has struggled mightily so far this season, and Saturday brings a nice opportunity for the Brewers to get things going at the plate. Justin Steele will take the hill for the Cubs, and the 26-year-old left-hander is 1-2 with a pedestrian 5.40 ERA and 1.73 WHIP in 2022. Steele has allowed nine earned runs on 16 hits and ten walks across 15 innings of work. Last Sunday, he was charged for a loss in a 4-3 defeat to Pittsburgh, yielding three earned runs on four hits and four free passes across three frames of work. Keep your eyes on Willy Adames, who’s 2-for-4 with a walk and a home run in five plate appearances against Steele.
✅ Eric Lauer will get the ball for the Brewers, and the 26-year-old southpaw will look to build on his tremendous performance against the Philadelphia Phillies. Last Sunday, Lauer whiffed 13 across six scoreless innings in a 1-0 victory at the Phillies, but he had to settle down with a no-decision. The lefty lowered his ERA to 2.20 and his FIP to 2.58. The current Cubs are hitting only .143/.193/.163 in 23 at-bats against Lauer.

✅ The Brewers’ bullpen continues to torture its opponents. It carried a 3.36 ERA and 3.25 FIP into the Cubs series (Friday’s opener has been excluded from this preview). Josh Hader has already registered ten saves, and the 28-year-old left-hander has yet to surrender an earned run in 2022.
Chicago Cubs
After a solid start to the season and six wins in their first ten contests, the Cubs have dropped seven of their next nine games. Last Thursday, the Cubbies suffered a 5-1 defeat at the Atlanta Braves and lost a three-game series at Truist Park, 2-1.
Chicago had the third-highest scoring offense in the majors on Friday, tallying 4.84 runs per game. The Cubs ranked second in OPS (.746) and first in batting average (.260). However, they had a 4.01 ERA (22nd in the MLB), while the Cubs’ starting rotation has recorded a poor 5.18 ERA and 1.44 ERA so far this season.
Milwaukee Brewers
The Brew Crew entered the Cubs series riding a three-game winning streak. Milwaukee beat Pittsburgh 3-2 last Thursday to sweep a three-game road series, recording its ninth victory in the last 11 outings at any location.
The Brewers lean on their pitching staff, but their offense has been awful for most of the young season. Milwaukee is hitting just .209/.282/.332, all way below the league average. The Brewers own an 80 OPS+ as a team, while Christian Yelich is slashing .197/.286/.303 in 66 at-bats.
