Red Sox vs Rays Betting Pick
This game will be played at Tropicana Field at 7:10 PM ET on Tuesday, July 12, 2022.
Why Bet The Rays:
✅ Corey Kluber (4-5; 3.62 ERA) will toe the slab for the Rays and shoot for his second straight win over Boston. The 36-year-old right-hander dominated the Red Sox this past Wednesday, allowing just three hits across six scoreless innings while punching out five (33 percent CSW rate). Kluber has gone only 1-3 over his previous five starts despite a nice 3.08 ERA and 3.07 FIP, and he’s got just one bad start since May 10 and a meltdown against the Angels.
✅ Chris Sale has recovered from a ribs injury and will make his 2022 season debut Tuesday at The Trop. The 33-year-old left-hander should need some time to shake off the rust. In his final minor-league rehab start, Sale issued a whopping five free passes through 3.2 innings of work. He may be on a pitch count, and the Red Sox’s bullpen has already tossed 48.2 innings in July (2.96 ERA, 3.51 FIP), so there will be some tired arms.

✅ The Rays won a three-game set at Fenway Park in Boston last week. After a 4-0 defeat in the opener, the Rays have tortured the Sawx in the next two contests, 8-4 and 7-1. Tampa Bay is 19-9 in its previous 28 road tilts against Boston.
Boston Red Sox
The Red Sox snapped their four-game skid last Saturday, outlasting the Yankees 6-5 in ten innings. They smashed the Yanks 11-6 on Sunday to split a four-game home set and improve to 47-39 on the season. Boston has gone 4-6 in its first ten games in July, tallying a pedestrian 5.14 ERA and scoring 46 runs on a .259/.313/.407 triple-slash.
Tampa Bay Rays
The 45-40 Rays entered Monday’s clash at Fenway Park riding a three-game losing streak. They just got swept on the road by the Cincinnati Reds and fell to 5-5 in July. The Rays have scored 51 runs in that ten-game stretch while slashing a firm .272/.354/.439 with 12 home runs and 24 doubles across 360 at-bats. On the pitching side of things, they’ve registered a 4.23 ERA to go with a troublesome 1.41 ERA and 2.79 opposing batting average. Tampa was third in the AL East on Monday, a game and a half behind Boston and 15.5 behind the Yankees.
