The Armed Forces Classic is set for Friday night when the Michigan State Spartans and Gonzaga Bulldogs play on USS Abraham Lincoln. Both teams started the season off with easy wins and will look forward to their first challenge of the season. Below is my college basketball pick for Michigan State vs Gonzaga.

Why Bet Gonzaga
✅ Gonzaga dominates regular season play and have a superior team over Sparty.
✅ It is hard to know how either team will play on a boat, but the talent advantage of Gonzaga should be able to overcome an expected slow start.
✅ MSU has won four of the last five games against Gonzaga, but these teams are nowhere near the same class this season.

Last season, Michigan State finished 23-13 overall and 11-9 in Big Ten play. The Spartans finished in a tie for seventh and advanced to the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament before losing to Purdue. In the NCC Tournament, MSU earned a seven seed and fell in the second round to Duke.
In the offseason, Michigan State lost three players who declared for the NBA Draft and two players who transferred to different schools. The Spartans will welcome two four-star recruits and one two-star recruit.

Gonzaga Bulldogs
In 2021-2022, Gonzaga finished 28-4 overall and 13-1 in WCC play to win the regular season championship. The Wildcats won the WCC Tournament and earned a one seed in the NCAA Tournament. Gonzaga advanced to the Sweet Sixteen where they lost to Arkansas.
The offseason saw three players leave to turn pro and two players leave as transfers. Gonzaga returns a lot of talent, but they did bring in two transfers and a three-star recruit.
In the preseason media polls, Gonzaga was picked to win their 11th straight WCC title, receiving nine of 10 votes, and Rasir Bolton, Julian Strawther, and Drew Timme were selected to the preseason all-WCC team.
