The college basketball season is here, and a fun battle is set for Monday night when the George Mason Patriots visit the Auburn Tigers. George Mason should not provide much push back in this one, but first game jitters could keep this one closer than imagined. Below is my college basketball pick for George Mason vs Auburn.

George Mason Patriots
Kim English took the helm at George Mason last season and guided the Patriots to a 14-16 overall record and 7-9 in Atlantic-10 play. The Patriots season ended in the second round of the A-10 tournament with a loss to the Fordham Rams.
In 2022-2023, the Patriots have a lot to replace from last season. Nine players have left the program, with six players transferring, as English looks to put his mark on the program. Two transfers, one from Tennessee and one from New Mexico, will head to the program and three freshmen are ready to make an impact. The George Mason roster is made up of six transfers as we head into the new season.
In the preseason polls, George Mason was selected fifth in the conference and forward Josh Oduro was selected to the preseason all-conference first team.
Auburn Tigers
Auburn will look to go further this season than they did last season as the Tigers were upset in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers finished 28-6 overall and 15-3 in SEC play, to earn a one seed in the conference tournament, but lost in the quarters to Texas A&M. Auburn earned a two seed in the Midwest region where they lost to Miami in the second round.
The Tigers lost two players who were drafted in the first round of the 2022 NBA draft, Jabari Smith, and Walker Kessler, and lost five other non-impact players in the offseason. Auburn is bringing in two transfers and one five, one four, and one three-star recruit to strengthen the squad.
In the preseason poll, Auburn was picked fourth in a stacked SEC and Wendell Green Jr. and K.D. Johnson were selected to second team all-SEC.
