There are only two games on the WNBA slate today, both of them afternoon games, so we’ll take a look at the marquee game of the day, as the Las Vegas Aces visit the Seattle Storm in a rematch of last season’s WNBA Finals.
Las Vegas at Seattle Betting Odds
The Storm are favored by 2.5 points at William Hill and the total on the game is 166.5.
Las Vegas Aces
The Aces were dealt a blow by losing Angel McCoughtry to an injury in the team’s first preseason game of the year, but they do welcome back Liz Cambage, who sat last season out, along with Kelsey Plumb, who missed last year due to an injury. They did lose Kayla McBride, but brought in Chelsea Gray and Riquna Williams, and also return players such as budding star A’ja Wilson and Sixth Woman of the Year Dearica Hamby.
The Aces are loaded talent-wise, but it also takes a team coming together and they have to improve on their record away from home. The Aces were 8-11 in 2019 away from home and 15-5 when playing in front of the home fans.
Seattle Storm
The Storm had a magical season last year and being a close-knit team worked to their advantage in what was a bit of an unknown type of year. Seattle lost Alysha Clark and Natasha Howard from last year’s championship team, but do return some serious talent in Sue Bird, Breanna Stewart and Jewell Loyd, while the team added Candice Dupree.
Repeating as champions isn’t easy to do, but the Storm do have the key pieces in place, it’s just a matter of how well things come together for Seattle.
Las Vegas Aces vs Seattle Storm Pick:
From a betting standpoint this is a bit of a tough game. My numbers have it 83-82 for Seattle, but being the first game of the season for both teams, that’s a bit of a guessing game. But there’s no denying this is a huge revenge game for the Aces, who were getting pummeled 92-59 the last time these two teams met. While they do have a few players new to the squad, those who were around last year should have revenge on their mind, so will take a shot on the Aces +2.5 in this one.
